A formality home game as some saw it this week, and so it proved for form side Arsenal. Fulham, despite having the odd chance were swept aside by attacking football and never seemed to have any conviction that they could get something from the game. A brace from Martins, and a fine strike from Cesc Fabregas sealed the points for Arsenal before their crunch game with Chelsea next week
Chelsea 5 vs Man City 0
Fans of Man City are feeling pretty dejected this week after a hammering by the league leaders. Many fans knew that the gaffer may well see this game as unwinable and so rest some of the older players - but to be outclassed to the tune of 5 goals was never going to be easy to take. Perhaps the youth at the away side are not up to the grade? or perhaps Chelsea really are that good - only time will tell - and lets hope Man City return to form for there tough game against Liverpool next weekend
Everton 1 vs Newcastle 2
A vital 3 points on there travels for Newcastle this week, and a dangerous defeat for the Goodison Park outfit. Two goals from the ever green Michael Owen put Everton to the sword and the fans will be upset at losing this massive 3 pointer of a match. Is this going to be the result to kickstart Newcastles stuttering season? Or will the class of Theirry Henry, provided he can stay fit be enough to leapfrog the likes of Newcastle come the end of the season?
Liverpool 2 Spurs 2
A very entertaining game this week at Anfield. Both managers and sets of fans grow frustrated as it seems that these two heavy weights always cancel each other out in the big games against the top sides and so lose ground on the Chelsea's and the Arsenal's in the league. Spurs will also feel hard done by about some player retirements and transfers that went sour - but did well to share the points after a commited performance from Gerrard and the gang
Man Utd 5 vs Wigan 0
A great game at Old Trafford this week, but only if you werent a Wigan supporter! How long will the Wigan board give the manager patience, and how long will the fans continue to show their support in the face of such a lack of invention? Man U were simply on top form today and showed their dominance from start to finish. The manager is bound to be happy about how well his new recruits from Real Madrid are settling in as they continue to impress, and the fact that they are coping well with the loss of Rooney. Rumours are eminating from the club that the rebuilding is not over yet however.............
Portsmouth 2 vs West Ham 3
Rounding up the action this week - we have a great game for the neutrals from Fratton Park. Portsmouth prove time and time again they are a very difficult side to break down and West Ham needed to be at their absoulte best to steal the points today. It looked all the world to be ending in a draw, but West Ham have that extra star quality - and this proved crucial again today
