Manager of the Month (week 19) - English Championship


It has been a turbulent month in the Championship, where consistency has proved the key and seen Watford and Coventry moving ever closer to their Premiership dreams. Elsewhere Bolton have moved clear of Aston Villa and look likely to join an inconsistent Middlesbrough, a solid Blackburn Rovers and much improved West Brom team in the play-offs. Towards the bottom Norwich and Cardiff have shown significant improvement and will fight it out to see who will likely join Charlton and Reading in League One next season. Please read the following synopsis of this months contenders for The Championship manager of the month before casting your vote;

Jamie Walker (Watford)
To onlookers it may appear that Jamie Walkers Watford have had a slightly inferior month but when you consider Watfords 8 points out of 12 return includes thrilling draws at fellow high flyers Middlesbrough and Coventry the Hertfordshire outfit will be pleased with their return. Watford have kept their main rivals at arms length and now go into a home game with Blackburn with an opportunity to secure The Championship title.

Points won; 8/12  Positional Change; 1st > 1st

Mark Rollings (Coventry City) It has been a marvelous month for Mark Rollings Sky Blues and Coventry now sit within touching distance of their Premiership dream. The month was capped off with a thrilling 4-4 draw at home to league leaders Watford, a match which has left pundits and fans alike already looking forward to their prospective clash in Englands top league next season. Elsewhere Coventry have secured massive wins against Middlesbrough and Bolton, and now face Southampton this weekend to complete a unlikely promotion.

Points won; 10/12  Positional Change; 2nd>2nd

Paul Harrington (West Brom) It was a difficult month last month for West Brom and manager Paul Harrington. Defeats to their promotion rivals left saw them fall out of contention for automatic promotion and there were murmurs of discontent starting to come from the terraces. Paul Harrington has more than shown his character however, leading his side to 3 wins out of four this month, leaving his side many peoples favorites for the play-offs.
