apologies for the lateness of Beat the Odds recently - my broadband has been done for 6 days now and mobile broadband isnt quite as good as i hoped!
I will sit down tomorrow when it is all connected back up and finish up the standings for last season - but unofficially congratulations to Stu Price who im pretty sure will have won!
I am now taking applicants for season 4 which will be all set up and ready for week 2 games - so please leave a quick post here if you would like to be invovled
ill also have a word with Rich about what he wants to to do in terms of in game rewards as this will be the first proper season
I can do the results on a weekly basis if you want. I would work them out Monday and then send to you Monday afternoon/evening to be put up on the message board
Rewards were all given out Simon from last season. The same will apply for this time round:
1st place - £3 million 2nd place - £2 million 3rd place - £1 million
Open to the suggestion of splitting the betting table come half season - like they do with the Scottish league. That way the people who have fallen miles behind would be in with a chance of winning the lower league while the top half managers could fight between themselves. If people like the idea, I'll add reduced prize money for the lower half.
2x La Liga trophy // Sevilla 2x Spanish cup // Sevilla 1x Premiership trophy // Man City 2x English cup // Man City 2x European Cup // Man City 1x Segunda trophy // Valencia
why have Samporia got a silhouette of Sherlock Homes smoking a pipe through his nose on there club badge?
"The Black thing is actually their sailor mascot:
He is an old sailor and his name is Baciccia (Battista in Italian, Baptist in English). The origin is the fact that Genova is (was) one of the most important harbours in the Mediterranean Sea."
I have been thinking about the totals people reached last year on beat the odds after half a season and I think the totals might become stupidly big if we run the competition for a whole season
So picking up on a suggestion made by Rich, i think it might be a good idea if at the half season point the tables are split in to 2 differant leagues.
The first league consisting of the top point scorers and the second league the lowest point scorers. At this point the scores could be reset with everyone starting again with 200 points. Rich could then set prices for the leaders of each of the leagues at the end of the season.
This would help people have an interest throughout the season and also give Adam a chance to lose all his points again in the first week - lol
Its just a suggestion as I think the points total would become unmanageable in the latter weeks of the season if we run just one league throughout the whole season
What do you think, is this something people would be interested in?
I think that will be a little unfair on managers at the very top. You could be 6th and then be in the same place at top. Maybe being able to trim a few zeros at some point may help, but so many big bets going in im sure most will be down to 0 anyhow so less people to cut down on
