I foolishly thought doing the Great North Run would be a great idea!! I've had an link with the CF Trust for a while now and will be raising money for them.
Cystic Fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 70,000 children and adults worldwide. A defective gene causes the body to produce unusually thick, sticky mucas that clogs the lungs leading to life threatening lung infections, and obstructs the pancreas and stops the body easily breaking down and absorbing food.
50 years ago few children with cystic fibrosis lived to attend school. Since then research and improved treatments mean people with the disease can now expect to live into their 30s, 40s and beyond.
