Atalanta extend their unbeaten run to five league matches with a 2 : 0 win over Reggina this afternoon. What a difference a drop in leagues makes. They have twice as many points this year already, than they managed in the whole of last season.
"Lets not get carried away," Terry Manifold said when I interviewed him after the match. "The season is still only a few weeks old," "We have to maintain this form for the rest of the campaign." "I am very pleased with this afternoons performance, especially Kevins 5th goal." " We really must hang on to the boy." Terry said. "I know the Chairman thinks a lot of Kevin, but we will need the cash to be able to keep him on after the loan period."
I did manage to ask Kevin about his form before he left the ground, "I am enjoying my time at Atalanta and hope my present form continues." he said. "My confidence is sky high at the moment and the lads have been very supportive both on the field and off it."
"You don't know how Palermo have done, do you?" asked Terry as he left the Press Box.

Real Valladolid fans have hailed their stadium the Municipal Jose Zorrilla as the greatest stadium in all of Europe, and you would struggle to disagree with such a claim. Current manager Simon Jenkins has not only brought the small club into La Liga but has also been keen to pump money into the club structure.
However this week the final expansion took place at the Real Valladolid stadium. Municipal Jose Zorrilla has planning permission to reach 35,000 capacity and Jenkins has achieved that already. The club will now have to save up and hope that a new site can be found to allow them to extend further in the future, but that wont be a cheap progression. Club advisors are warning this will be a very long way down the road in the future.
The second biggest stadium in Europe is currently Chelsea's Stamford Bridge which is an amazing 9,000 seats smaller than the Municipal Jose Zorrilla. Talk that the Municipal Jose Zorrilla is to be used for this seasons European Cup final are so far unconfirmed.
Sky sports news caught up with Richard Jefferies after a fans forum at White Hart Lane to get his thoughts on where his team are heading.
SSN So the fans are split over your marvellous attacking and poor defending, what do you think ?
RJ I can understand their feelings to a certain extent, we are great going forward and a bit suspect at the back sometimes. I made a decision this season to attack teams so i cant really blame my defence because they have been left exposed at certain times. But no one can argue we are good to watch !!
SSN You seem to have money to spend, what are you looking for ?
RJ Yeh a few players have gone out and yes i have funds, my scouts are looking hard but i am on the lookout for good young players in all positions, but isnt everyone !!
SSN So is the top 6 a realistic target this year ?
RJ Well its a target but i know we still have a bit to go, we have a good mix and some real quality but this is a really strong league, I just hope we can continue to improve and hopefully we will finish higher again this year.

West Brom manager today hit out at an agonising outburst at Villareal manager Simon Newcombe. The West Brom manager was quoted as saying -
" What a wonderfull day at West Bromich Albion Football Club today. Life is good at the moment. After getting a point at high flying Liverpool and the beating Middlesborough at home, my boys really are flying ! It only seemed like yesterday that Simon Newcombe currently at struggling Villareal was high flying with Arsenal and helping out others(Mr 10 clubs Steve D-E and we know what happened with him). Now we see him struggling to even help a fellow Gooner Rev Tim that has taken over at Charlton. I used to have a high respect level for Simon, i dont know why though as he really hasnt done much at all. Anybody can do well and buy youngsters at big clubs but putting the right mixture together takes a great manager, Im trying to get that at West Brom. I obviously havnt got the income of such big clubs but seem to have held my own. As for Mr Newcombe ill be honest and it brings a smile to my face seeing him sitting joint bottom of La Liga with 0 points at all . The reason i bring this up is we travel to Arsenal tonight. Im putting a weaker side out tonight to help Jamie and ourselves out. He really has had a tough job after picking up Mr Newcombes rubbish he left over but is doing an amazing job and i really wish him all the best.My older players will feel the rest ideal and be a lot stronger for the more important games coming up. I think Simon may have made a mistake in turning down the Sunderland job offer if rumours was to be correct. Dale at Sunderland is doing a great job there, and although under heavy pressure there last year he really did produce the goods and he is again this season. Currently sitting 3rd in the league i think Niall Quin has got lucky and found a gem of a manager there. As for rumours linking me to Inter Milan, can i just say its an honour being linked to such a fantastic club. Iv still got a lot to prove at West Brom though and anything more than staying above the relegation zone then i will be a happy bunny. West Brom are currently re-building and under my managership will just grow and grow. Lastly id like to say a big thankyou to Luke at Ac Milan. I brought the best out of Palmiteri while at Celta Vigo and look how well he is doing at Spurs. Im now doing a similar project with Jimmy Briand and can see him being Serie A top scorer next season. Hes 1 hell of a player and hopefully we can keep him till the end of the season. 1 last prediction -Villareal to go backwards under Newcombe"
