Strange sort of justice indeed if he ended up up Genoa.................:(
Unless ive got the wrong end of the stick that would mean
1. Get appointed Arsenal manager 2. Become the first person in FA history to cripple a top flight club - in less than one season 3. Your "reward" for this is to become the games top earning manager at a good club the same day 4. Said club then bankrolls you to buy the best player from the club you crippled
If I were you Jamie id do the following
1. Start buying lottery tickets - as the world is currently being very nice to you! 2. Dont give out your home address in Spain to any Arsenal fans.....................:)
In my defence, it was an honest mistake that 'crippled' them and if i had know their wages were ridiculously high i would have tried to do something about it. When i was told what would happen i was genuinely gutted and tried to put my wages etc back into the club to try and prevent it. As it happens i wasn't allowed and the consequences are what has since become.
I didnt ask to get offered the Genoa job but what would any other manager do in my situation?
The board at Genoa have a big say on large money transfers and although i, as any manager would, like to have Cesc in my squad the board gets the overriding decision, not me.
Although the banter is good, i thought FA was a good light hearted friendly game...

That really was meant far more tongue in cheek than the other end of the scale - and was meant to be a "voice of the arsena fan" dig at you - sorry it if reads worse than that
You made a mistake, you owned up to it, I dont see there is a great deal more you could do (other than not doing it in the first place lol)
Hate to say it though - but you may have to get used to digs like that as managers have long memories and so far you are the only man to "break a club" :) let alone one as big an institution as Arsenal. Steve Jenkins @ Juventus for example would get just as many digs if he did the same - way of the world my boy
"Steve Jenkins @ Juventus for example would get just as many digs if he did the same"
Not likely - I am too much loved by all within the world of football.
Plus I'm unlikely to overpack the team bus (like Jamie), given that I'm still using a small squad compared to my rivals and (once again) see all my competitors getting investment while I have to rely only upon my youthful team and my own (albeit considerable) talent!
By the way Simon, at this rate you will need to hire a bigger room for the annual "Ex Arsenal Managers" meeting !
It does bring up a good point this though and perhaps managers hould be responsible to have a sheet of players wages that they need to keep within a budget for total spend for a year ? We have to stick to the budget or face the consequences.
