Valencia

I would like to make a formal application for the vacant managers position at Valencia. I believe that with the current talent pool, stature of the club, and ambition of the clubs board I could steer the brand back to the top of Spanish football, where they belong.

My CV and list of achievements is as follows:

Season 1 3: Coventry City FC

Breaking into management in league one I successfully achieved back-to-back promotions for the club, earning them Premier League football with an attacking brand of football. Attendances significantly increased during my time at the club, as well as my input helping the club add 5,000 to its stadium capacity, significantly enhancing potential revenue streams.

Season 4-5: Sampdoria

After guiding Coventry successfully to the Premier League I took the role of manager at Seria A Sampdoria. Following promotion my brief was to establish the side in Serie A again, which I met while also leading the club to an Italian Cup final, and European Football.

Season 5-6: Athletic Bilbao

After a short break from management I was appointed manager at Segunda side Athletic Bilbao. Utilising my football contacts I quickly assembled a squad capable of promotion, a feat I achieve through the end of season play-offs. Sadly the season in La Liga ended in relegation, but a policy of youth and development is still serving the club well today!

Season 6-7: Everton

After successfully applying for the vacant managers position at Everton I set about immediate targets of instant promotion back up the leagues. I believe I have significantly improved the quality of the squad and duly achieved promotion this season back up into the Championship. Everton are well set up for future challenges and have once again started engaging with their fan base.

Season 8: Valencia???

Valencia offer me a challenge to the higher Escalons of the European game. A famous club, with a proud tradition in football, I believe that I have the skills and dedication to lead them back to La Liga and European football. As a manager I want to find a job I can settle, build and develop my own team, capable of challenging for honours. I believe Valencia tick all these boxes!

I would like to apply for Valencia. This is my first time applying so I hope it is fine.

  • Getafe were bottom in the table when I joined and I was able to benefit from loans and transfers with some very kind and easy to deal with managers and my team turned around their form and came on strong.
  • We finished in 5th place and had to play two teams who had bigger stature but beat Villarreal and Racing Santander to get promoted. The results before I joined were so far away from how we finished we must have been written off.
  • Getafe still have a good team who could fight to stay up but I would like to move to a team who can aim for more than just surviving.
  • Getafe turned into high scorers after I had completed my loans and transfers and even with a rubbish start to the season we finished the highest scorers in the division.
  • I think my attacking style would benefit Valencia.
  • They are a big club but its obvious they have hit hard times. I think my experience and success in the division they have been relegated to and my enjoyment of attacking high scoring football would help take Valencia back to where they belong.
  • Getafe will struggle to be more than relegation fighters in the top division but I think Valencia could be much more and that prospect excites me.

Don't really want Mark back in Spain, but people know what he can do.

If Valencia are looking for a Manager, cant see too many better than him.

Good Luck.

I would like to put my name forward for the Valencia CF job

I have always tried to take an active role in the game with regular activity in the media pages and when dealing with other managers. I set up the very first feeder club a long time ago and I've turned that into a very successful feature of my management. Athletic Bilbao went from a struggling team to being the Spanish double winners the season Adam Goble and I linked up with his team as our feeder club

Achievements

In the old fa I spent my time at Southampton. I totally changed their team and moved them up the league until they were crowned champions. I really enjoyed my time in England and won the treble but regrettably I lost that group of players when the game changed

I have managed Sevilla in the new fa for two and a half seasons. We broke into Europe finishing third in season one ahead of some of the much bigger Spanish teams and we came runners up in the cup to Real Madrid. The next season I won the double for Sevilla finishing above Barcelona and Real Madrid in the league and winning the cup. We had a great run in Europe and lost out to a very impressive Chelsea team in the final

I wanted a new challenge after this and applied for the Cardiff job. They had just been relegated so the challenge to turn their team around was fresh and enjoyable. I won promotion in my first season takingthem straight back to the championship but my biggest achievement was getting them to the semi finals of the cup losing to Man United but beating West Ham on the way. I had Cardiff safe and in the play off places but left before the end of the season happy my job was complete and I felt it was the perfect time for a new manager to take them in to the premiership

I moved to Man City at this time because Chris Hanton had moved on and I thought I could carry on his good work. I spoke to him and thought he had started them in the right direction but had been unfairly treated by the chairman. I was out of the race to win the league when I joined but finished third. In my first full season with them I won the cup reached the european final but was beaten by the mighty Chelsea and improved the league position to second behind the mighty Chelsea but closer than the season before. This season I improved again meeting all targets and high expectations finally beating Chelsea in the league and knocking them out in both cups

I believe I have shown I'm capable of changing players to make a winning side. I have developed very good links with other clubs managers like Adam Goble were once at my feeder club and have gone on to big things so I would like to think they still have a fond word or two to say about me. I have always tried to offer any help I can to upcoming managers and I always try to help any manager I work with as a feeder club to improve their own team not just rely on my loans. I have shown I can compete above what a club expects but I can also develop a team to keep performing well even when the targets increase because of this success

Future

I now think the time is right to move to a new challenge and I enjoyed spain with Sevilla and won the spanish double in my final season with them. I can't profess to being a Valencia fan but the loyalty and success I have shown before should show my commitment to what ever team I manage

I ask that if the Valencia board consider my application and I would promise that the money they have in the bank that could be wasted on players they don't need would be used to improve the club shop and stadium to ensure future growth and sustainability in the sport because I think most of the players there are good enough if managed properly and I know my tactics can work in spain from my Sevilla days

I can see there is competition for the post and I know Mark well from having his Everton as my feeder club the first half of this season. If any of the other managers get the job over me they will do a good job I am sure

Thank you

Stu
