This is the first instalment of the initial proposal being put to the Italian FA. Managers wanting to comment on it can comment here if they dont want to do so via the media.
Timescale:
No date has been set for implementation, with no firm decision made at this stage. The Italian FA have confirmed any changes would have to be made with a seasons advance warning so managers knew the season before which league of the three new leagues they would be entering well in advance.
Plan One:
Serie A - 8 teams. Relegation - 7th and 8th relegated automatically. Relegation Play-off - 6th plays play-off round 1 winner from Serie B.
Serie B - 8 teams. Promotion - 1st and 2nd automatically. Promotion Play-off - 3rd and 4th play-off in round 1. Winner plays 6th from Serie A in final. Relegation - 7th and 8th relegated automatically. Relegation Play-off - 6th plays play-off round 1 winner from Serie C.
Serie C - 8 teams. Promotion - 1st and 2nd automatically. Promotion Play-off - 3rd and 4th play-off in round 1. Winner plays 6th from Serie B in final.
Based on current league standings the divisions would look like this:
Serie A
Serie B
Serie C
Juventus
Inter Milan
Atalanta
Palermo
Lazio
Ascoli
Sampdoria
Brescia
Siena
Fiorentina
Empoli
Udinese
Genoa
Chievo
Catania
AC Milan
Napoli
Torino
Roma
Parma
Cagliari
Reggina
Messina
Livorno
Plan Two:
Serie A - 8 teams. Relegation - 7th and 8th relegated automatically.
Serie B - 8 teams. Promotion - 1st automatically. Promotion Play-off - 2nd and 3rd play-off in a 2 leg match winner promoted. Relegation - 6th and 7th and 8th relegated automatically.
Serie C - 8 teams. Promotion - 1st and 2nd automatically. Promotion Play-off - 4th and 5th play-off in a 2 leg match winner promoted.
Based on current league standings the divisions would look like this:
Serie A
Serie B
Serie C
Juventus
Inter Milan
Atalanta
Palermo
Lazio
Ascoli
Sampdoria
Brescia
Siena
Fiorentina
Empoli
Udinese
Genoa
Chievo
Catania
AC Milan
Napoli
Torino
Roma
Parma
Cagliari
Reggina
Messina
Livorno
Obviously these two options can be adjusted slightly if you disagree with one slight thing within one of them.
European Cup Qualification Plan:
Seeded - 1st and 2nd Serie A Unseeded - 3rd and Cup Winners (Cup Runners Up if these already qualified, then goes to 4th in Serie A)
UEFA Cup Qualification Plan:
Seeded - 4th Serie A and Cup Runners Up Unseeded - Cup Semi Finalists *If 4th Serie A qualified for European Cup, place goes to 5th Serie A *If Cup Runners Up qualified for European Cup, place goes to 5th Serie A. *If 5th Serie A already qualified for UEFA Cup, place goes to 6th Serie A.
Comment below on which setup you prefer, and bits within that setup that you like/would change. Hopefully the tables I've pasted for each one make it easier to see how each plan would look.

you could try a system where at the halfway point in the season Seria A splits into two different leagues. The top of half of Serie A then play each other for the title and european qualification. The bottom half play to avoid relegation.
I think it is a great idea. All the teams at the lower end of Serie B have little or no chance of a "Good" season. If you notice over the past two or three seasons it is the same teams that yo yo between the two leagues. Whilst that reflects real football it is not good for rookie game managers. They want encouraging to stay with the game. With the changes there is more opportunity to taste success.
I honestly think managers at those clubs will be more secure in their jobs.
yeah i like it. means catania will b in serie c, but it also means i can win the serie C. Maybe adding a couple more teams would help? like say pushing in a bari or cessena
Pricey if you read almost the very first paragraph where it says timescale, it says any change would be made with a season's notice so it wouldn't come in for next season, it would be the season after at the earliest.
