Rob Holden - Sheffield Wednesday were widely expected to win the division and did so but an impressive 22 points clear of 2nd place. The 100% record in the league was added to by the surprise English Cup final appearance losing to Liverpool but knocking out both Manchester clubs, Spurs, and two of the Championship promoted teams Portsmouth and Middlesbrough enroute to the final. Sheffield Wednesday will now be playing European football next season from the Championship.
Jon Gilpin - Preston were expected to finish in the bottom half of the table, now recovered from their hisoric financial problems. They put in a solid performance across the whole season finishing just 2 points outside of the play-offs.
Ross McKay - Birmingham were tipped to get promotion into the Championship this season via an automatic promotion spot but doubts were initially raised under their new inexperienced manager. In the end they finished 2nd recovering from a poor start to the season to take an automatic promotion spot in the last 2 weeks of the season.
