Week 5

Marca have this evening managed to get Villerreal manager  David Davies-Evans to sit down and give a rare interview.

Marca. Things are going well at Villerreal this season.

"Its been an amazing start and im very proud of the lads week in week out. However its a long season and i will not let them get carried away with the start we have made."

Marca. Covic scored a hatrick this week. How happy are you with him?.

"He is a top young player learning his trade. This will do his confidence a world of good. I would like to Thank Johny Sinclair for giving me the oppurtunity to work with the young lad."

Marca. You have managed to name the same side this season thus far. Any changes for next week.

"That will be down to injuries and suspensions. We have a potential 6 pointer next weekend at home to Osusuna. they are also doing fantastic in the leauge, but we will go into that game very Confident."

Marca. Any transfer news David.

"we are this week loaning a right Midfielder from Parma and signing a Centre back from Middlesborough. I am going to loan out one of our young CB;s soon to England, i want him to get games and hopefully imrove his game.

Marca. Many thanks David.

Cheers guys.

Following reports recently in the press about the bad start to Wolves season the manager has spoken to the press following his sides exit in the Cup to Villa.

We changed our tactics for the cup, and it almost paid off. Pundits didn't give us a chance against Villa, but away from home we kept a clean sheet. That is progress, and something to build on. Unfortunately, once again we didn't score in open play, and that is becoming a serious problem. I feel sorry for the lads tonight - going out of the cup on penalties is always hard. But we will move on and build on what we have learnt tonight.

Before I came here, I knew that the job would be a tough one. Perhaps not quite as tough as it has turned out to be. But tough nevertheless. As I said in week 1, we are a team promoted via the play offs, so are competing against some strong teams, in those that came down from the Premiership. Our lack of decisiveness in front of goal is an issue, but we have been unlucky in some games not to earn a draw.

As I have said a number of times before, I have to keep an eye on the wage bill. However, our serious predicament has meant that depsite my previous comments about limiting players we bring in on loan, I have two players coming in over the next couple of weeks, who will help to bolster the spine of the team. Whether that will mean that fringe players are released will be a serious consideration, as will the possibility of loaning out our own players if that is possible.

Everyone at Wolves is working hard to turn things around. The players know that most of their performances have not been up to the job, but that is something that each of them is working on in training. We are working to put things right and hopefully that will be sooner rather than later. I hope that the fans will understand the situation we are in and back the players and myself in what are difficult times.

RE: Week 5

esnlivebreakinnews.jpg

Fans have blamed the new pitch layout at Wolves for the lack of goals being scored this season. So far the chairman and manager have refused to comment.

(This is just an artists impression of Wolves pitch and may or may not be accurate.)

WEST HAM - READING
Saturday 12th November

Sky Sports attended the pre match build up to the league match between West Ham United and Reading. Reading are once more fighting for a play off position but West Ham United are learning to live with the expectation of winning promotion back into the Premier League.

"Reading have a good mixture of young and old players and scouting them this week you can really see why they have been there or there abouts for a little while now. Some of the West Ham United players are having to change the way they look at the league because unlike other seasons with other managers they aren't a Premier League club this year and I was brought here to rectify that. Some young players have come in to replace legends like Anton Ferdinand. They were tough calls to make when a promotion was expected of us but all of them have started their careers here well."

West Ham United have transfer listed top striker Arturo Lupoli even though he has been one of the top scorers for them in the past.

"The time had come for some players to be moved on and Lupoli wasn't one of the oldest but he doesn't feature in my plans. West Ham United have a couple of strong young players coming through the ranks and I want to nurture them in the first team. Cortez and Lupoli couldn't both stay. Lupoli is still only just 30 and a very high class striker. He has many similarities to Huntelaar who was sold from Liverpool to Inter Milan in a deal worth over 20 million so Lupoli and I were quite insulted by an offer of less than his value from Liverpool. I might have joined a selling club in the process of rebuilding but I'm not stupid and I think so soon after selling Huntelaar for so much that Liverpool could have done West Ham United and myself the kindness to show us some respect in their offer. Thankfully they have been the only ones to come in so low and between three very interested clubs we hope to come to a final deal for Lupoli this week."

Siena  News

Tonight's result for Siena will put a smile on Terry Manifolds' face in his quest for direct promotion this season. It is three points added to the total, a pull away from the bottom three clubs and three if they can pinch the points against Messina next week it could see a push upwards.

PRESS.  Things were a lot better today?

Terry. Yes it was a very interesting contest. We had a fright in the 5th minute when one of our old players, Wellington Monteiro, had a goal disallowed. In fact they had 2 goals disallowed. But to be fair we have been in that position when the decisions went against you. It may have been a different game had they took the lead at that time. I think overall we deserved the win.

PRESS.  The Calliari goal was a cracker?

Terry.  Yes it is his first for the Club and what a way to start. I also think Oriandi had a good first game and lets not forget Kevins Smiths goal, it was top drawer.

PRESS.  It is Messina next week and I see already the pundits are predicting you going down.

Terry.  Yes I noticed that. Messina aren't doing too well so far this season and I am told they lost to Torino today. I would have thought we could secure the win. On a line through Cagliari it will be close but I think we have the edge, but I am sure you will remind me of that next week.

The spanish press have their first interview with the new Cadiz manager.

How have the first few weeks been in your new job?

"I have enjoyed it so far. The results have taken a bit of time to get going but the team have won three games on the trot so things are good at the moment".

What made you decide to leave Spurs to take up a lesser role?

"I would not say that it is a lesser role. The challenge is different but I was at Levante a few seasons ago in the same league so know what to expect. I decided that I needed to get some passion back in the game so felt it best to go back to basics and work my way back to the top."

"I was disappointed to leave Real Madrid but felt it was the right thing to do at the time. Looking at the team now, there are no changes to when I left so maybe I left a bit too soon. Either that or the new manager has been able to get more out of the players than I could. It is good to see that they are beginning to get the results they should be though. As for Spurs, I probably shouldn't have joined them when I did and was too hasty in just trying to get another job."

"After a small break Luke offered me the opportunity to take over at Cadiz and I felt it was what I needed to get back into my stride. So far things are doing okay."

Any transfer news to speak of?

"I am bringing in a young left midfielder from Aston Villa this week. He will be going straight into the team and should add that extra something that may be needed to get a few more victories. Other than that, I have nothing else planned at the moment."
