New manager same old Fiorentina

This week Daniel Robertson took over at Fiorentina but his arrival was unable to stop the bad run that the team has been having in this season. This week they travelled to in form AC Milan but the game was over by half time as Milan went in to the break 2-0 up. With a very quiet second half, fans of Fiorentina knew they were destined to finish the first half of the season winless. Mr Robertson has taken over the club and came in with big promises of avoiding relegation. Sadly I cant see that happening, next week they face a massive game against Catania.

Inter get Inter the winning groove

11 games into the season and finally Inter Milan fans can celebrate a win. They travelled to lowly Brescia this week in a game that they had to win to try and avoid the drop. The match will not go down as a classic but Inter fans will not care about that. Its title chasing Genoa next week in what will be a very difficult game for manager Rob O'Brien. I think the relegation fight will be a close run thing between Inter, Parma and Catania and it will run until the final few weeks of the season.

100% for Sampdoria

Sampdoria have done something that only 2 other clubs can say they have done in the FA world this season, they have won every one of their opening 11 games. Sampdoria look unstoppable on their march back to Seria A. Torino were put to the sword this week as they were beaten 4-0.  Fans and management alike will want to keep this run going into the second half of the season. I for one cant see the run ending anytime soon.

Siena draw again.

Siena this week treated their fans to yet another draw. Already the 6th draw of the season more than any other Seria B side. But what is more worrying for the fans is that they have not won a game in their last 5 games and they sit near the bottom of the form table. Manager Terry Manifold still believes that they have a good chance of getting promotion. I feel that this will be a very difficult task to achieve. I know Terry and his team will give it everything they have but I just feel there are stronger teams in the league.

A week with his feet under the managers desk at Fiorentina, Dan Robertson came to talk to the press about his upcoming first game in charge.

Q - In the Atalanta column we heard that you were at the AC Milan match last week is this true?

A - To put the record straight I went there to watch the game. I wasn't in the duggout and had no control of the team. Last week was my final match in charge of Reggina because the paperwork hadn't come through from the fa before the games. I got to see my Reggina team put in a great performance away winning 3-0 and then flew to Milan to watch my new team playing. Fiorentina didn't have a single shot on target in that game so all week the players have stayed behind an extra hour doing shooting practice.

Q - The fans have seen a lot of activity at the club this week has this been transfer deals happening?

A - Yes fans will be seeing some of our players leaving over the next 2 weeks and some new faces should start to appear. The main problem is getting 11 fit players on the pitch. The last manager has left a small squad with old players and 7 of them already have less than 8 fitness with half a season still to play.

Q - Can you say who will be leaving?

A - We had some interest in Kelvin Etuhu. I can say now he is being sold. We are close to selling Roberto Platero as well. Daniele Adoura and Tomasz Cywka are being released. These 2 are nice guys but the last manager had no right to lead them on pretending they were good enough for this division. They would find it hard to ever play at Reggina!

Q - Can you say who will be joining?

A - Jordi Amat is joining on loan from Espanyol for the rest of the season this week. Jordi is a young player desperate to prove his worth to his manager and Ashley Harris has been kind enough to let us take him and give him that chance in our defence. We have a few other deals that are too early to say.

Reporters allowed exclusive access to the Fiorentina training ground this week have seen measures being put in place already by Dan Robertson to punish bad shooting and reward winners even in training matches.
