A lot of us have girlfriends / wives / partners / children - so I thought id pass on some tips and tricks to not getting into trouble with the missus and still getting the time to play FA - often caused me grief in the past (and numerous other managers too!)
1. "If she doesnt know, you cant get into trouble"
Use this one at your own risk! But ive often said "right, im off to sort out the bills on the laptop" and done a bit of sneaky FA dealing. I will warn you that this approach can leave you missing parts of your anatomy when you wake up in the morning....................
2. "Credit Cards are marvelous things!"
If youre really stuggling promise her that for each minute you spend on FA, she can shop online for shoes. Using this can seriously bankrupt you though boys - you have been warned!"
3. "Distraction is a wonderful thing!"
No-one tends to have a pop about you spending time on a hobby if they are busy enjoying something themselves. My personal tips are Dirty Dancing DVD, and most of the soaps on the box. Use this time wisely to set up all your transfer deals! As i recently found out too, after staying up all night trying to get my little girl to sleep, some managers work night shifts or do the same and can often be found at 4am and you can set up deals as i did this week!
4. "Work doesnt always come first!"
Why spend time working when you can play FA! Be warned though - this can get you fired which will probably not impress everyone..................
5. "Modern Technology is a marvelous thing!"
Personally, both emails and the message board work great on my Blackberry. So get one or a mobile and welcome to no more long, boring train rides and after curry toilet trips!
Thats all i can come up with now fella's - but put your heads together and lets make our lives easier!
cheers
Simon Arsenal Manager, English Premiership
ps for our female FA members, most of the above will work on us fella's. Just substitute Dirty Dancing for Match of the Day, and shoe shopping for xbox360 and you are in business!
Writing this post reminded me of the former Inter Milan and Coventry manager, Jamie Walker on the old FA game that sadly didnt continue with the game now due to other commitments
Have fond memories of the build up to a cup semi final I had with Jamie (which he won!) and the general banter - shame hes not around now. He pretty much won everything there was to win in the old game.
If you can remember the media build up to a cup game you had a year ago on a free to play internet football game - you need to get out more i hear you all cry!!!
Anyway - noticed that a Jamie Walker is now managing Wolves
I think you'll find it's Jamie Best managing Wolves. Jamie Walker wasn't back at the start of FAevo but is now managing Napoli in Italy Serie B.......so be afraid, be very afraid!
Read the Napoli news the other day and just didnt put two and two together!
Napoli's a bloody big challenge for you mate! But ive seen you do it with Coventry (albeit with brilliant youth players) - so see you in Europe in 3 seasons!
