didnt you just get Wright off the free agents list this week ? If you dont want him release him back there so a club that wants him can sign him for free rather than lining your pockets
Its a bit on a grey area anyway - the old selling free transfer players for profit - but you have to ask yourself honestly - who is going to pay £2m for a player with stats like that?
This is an area that on the old game started annoying people...managers signing a player on a free and then selling them on. Perhaps a rule could be introduced that you cant sell them on for a minimum of say 6 weeks. Then only people who were interested in free agents for the players that they are would actually go for them. Otherwise perhaps there could be a clause in the rules that when a manager sells a free agent on within a certain time they are then banned from picking up another free agent.
Otherwise lower league teams lose out and the big boys just get rich on the pickings. If you want to make sure the gap between big and small does not continue to grow something should be done about this.
As it happens I was interested in the player on a free - as a back up. But I wont be offering money for him.
You'll notice this has been addressed in the new game, although the effects won't have been noticed yet. A 22 man squad limit has been brought in and fitness/injuries have been adjusted. As such people are likely to need a squad more than they did in the old game.
However managing the squad will now be more difficult. People who fill their 22 squad with people like Wright - free agents they want to sell on - then chances are they won't have room for young players after a short while. Young players will only come through at clubs with room for them.
Given time, I expect people to become very picky about who they bring in as big clubs won't be able to carry players in their squad who can't contribute, and are likely to be forced into releasing young players they think won't make it at the top level. These youngsters should filter down into the lower divisions where they will get the games, and improve. Maybe they'll improve enough to be sold back to the top clubs there by making smaller clubs a profit.
That's the hope, as that would represent real life youth academy players in most cases.
Thats useful and I understand where you are coming from...so I assume you dont have any plans to introduce a rule of not being able to sell on players immediately, as suggested then?
That's the next step if this doesn't work. Almost everyone loves their young players on here though so I expect clubs to clear out players they don't need in the hope of getting youngsters in.
I'm relatively new to this game and still finding my feet. I will let Jermaine Wright go for the minimum amount possible in the rules. Think that will be 1.6m.
I'm going on holiday next week so will only be available for deals on Friday morning.
