Just an idea really, I'm sure you've seen the prediction games where you guess scores of football matches and get points if you get the score spot on or if you just get the winner correct.
As there seems a lot more people using this message board than with the old game, I wondered if this would be something managers would want as a 'side game' so to speak for FA. As a positive towards the game for you, it would mean you're paying attention to the smaller leagues that you might normally overlook.
Would managers like something like this? And if anyone knows of a site where you can customise the entered games for the predictions, because obviously you'd be guessing on FA games, not real life games, a link to the site would be useful as I could then set up an FA league for managers, with FA games on the prediction list.
Good plan. Richard does enough for the game already!!
Perhaps we could have a section of the message board for the prediction and some managers with admin rights (for that section only) and post the predictions each week
then one manager can compile the scores that are sent in each week and make tables for how people are getting on?
Id be happy to do this each week and am a reliable manager so will put my name forward
I'm fine with that. It wouldn't necessarily have to be all fixtures either as this would be a considerable amount. Maybe 3 games from each league? I'll leave that for people to decide.
I can set aside a section for this, and possibly - if you all want - we can have the predictions in a section of the message board and a link to a seperate, freewebs page to store the table on? Obviously if Simon runs the calculations then you'll have admin password for that single freewebs page to allow you to update it.
That sounds good to me. A post on the message board to reveal that particular weeks games - which then links to a freewebs page that i can update after the results are on the site and ive got peoples scores together
A few things that spring to mind
1. if everyone is keen - this will start ready for next weeks games. Richards idea of 3 games per league to start with sounds like a good idea. I then can then gauge it as per how long it takes me to do it all and then we can either decide for me to do all the leagues - or perhaps select a manager to run ALL games for a league, while other managers do ALL games for others - ill see how long it all takes to compile
2. So thats 3 predicted games per league. How are we going to choose these games? Randomly? By Voting? or with common sense - ie interesting top of the table / playoff contenders / relegation matches?
3. Is everyone happy with 3 points for a perfect prediction ie 2-1, 1 point for if you pick the winner regardless of score, and 0 for not getting the winner or predicting a draw
4. League tables then to be drawn up and updated each week as to who is getting the results right more often than not
5. just for fun? or will the winner receive anything?
6.i would suggest that people email me to let me know they wish to play the game, and then i can start making the tables ready to go on the site. Then simply each week email me your predictions before Richards FA deadline to be in that week
think thats about - but please feel free to add comments / suggestions / ideas
I think 3 for each league is good. If it was more it might become a chore for managers to be predicting 42 games a week
The points system you mentioned sounds fair Simon
