Was just wondering if there could be any way to hide your bank balance from other managers, as when you are trying to buy someone then surely the other manager just looks at how much you have in the bank and adjusts their valuation accordingly. This would make the game more realistic, and could offer 'smaller' clubs the opportunity to get a bargain. For instance if such a club had some rainy day money, the big club they are negotiating with may think "its only Accrington Stanley (for example), they can't afford much so I won't ask for much."
As well as this, seeing as transfers get announced, you could also have an undisclosed fee option so that managers can't just work out from recent dealings how much the other clubs have got.
I also agree with this, It might be and idea to put a transfer cap on players, ie if a players value is 10mil the max price he can be sold for would be 10mil plus 20%. This would stop all the rich clubs having an advantage.
If Chelsea want to pay £50m for Ronaldinho - who are we to say they cant?
There is already a double the value on all players set by Richard - and if you think it through your rule change will only hurt smaller clubs - not bigger ones. Bigger clubs can sign promising players for value + 20% and they will get a better bargain and you will get less money
sorry to be the bearer of bad news.........................
i cant see richard agreeing to hiding our bank balances because:
it would mean that he would have to send weekly e-mails to everyone with their bank balance
he would get e-mails all the time from people asking for their balance (he has enough to do already)
he would argue that it would be even more confusing for new players (fair point)
it would probably lead to confusion amongst even the established managers, and an increased number of failed transfers
it is a good thought but as far as i see it, just not feasible (unless of course the site becomes super uptodate and we all get personal pages with logins and passwords (like the premierleague.com fantasy league, or even myspace)

Rob made an excellent post which basically answers this thread for me!! I actually tried incorporating passwords into freewebs at the start of the season. Freewebs charges me if I want to use their password system so I made a quick attempt at html passwording, which didn't work. Not being an expert at html I wasn't really surprised but it's something I will look at in the future, along with a live match feature - where managers can watch a 'feature game report' run in speeded up real-time (eg. 1 minute game time = 2 seconds real time). Both these features are something I will look at again, for the game feature I needed a commentary generator and couldn't find one online and didn't have time to create one from scratch.
But thats an insight into 2 possible future features!!
doesnt FM 2007 come with a commentaty generator that can be edited? im sure i say a post on one of the SI games boards about it for custom commentary - perhaps it can be adapted for FA?
not sure about the legal ramifications of using it for something else though?
I'll have a look when I get home on my laptop. I'm sure there was a file there but I have a feeling I needed to be online to open that type of file, so that may have to wait until next week too. I'll look into the co. rights too.
