Shorther Loan Periods

Hi All

I was just wondering what other managers thought about the length of loan periods. I would like to see an intoduction of smaller loan periods i.e 4 - 6 weeks. I feel that even half a season loan can be too long, especially if you are unlucky enough to be hit be a lot of injuries and suspensions. In my case I would probably loan more of my players out to lower league teams for a shorther period of time in the knowledge that they would not be away for long if I had players missing. I don't know if it can be implemented into the game but would like to see what you all think about it.

Cheers

I tend to agree....or maybe a recall clause would be useful?

There's a problem with each idea, and I guess its down to managers themselves to weigh up how big a problem they see these as actually being.

By having short loans this will ultimately benefit bigger clubs. At the moment they either loan out for 11 weeks or they keep their players. If they keep them they either have to rotate therefore weakening their team, or don't play the weaker players therefore likely to lose out on improving those players not in the first 11. Lowering the loan period removes this choice and allows bigger clubs to use smaller ones at their convinience.

It also means more work for me, as the current system only needs updating twice a season, with smaller loans it'd need updating weekly - quite a big jump but one I'd do if I thought it improved things significantly.

As for recalls, I'm not convinced they'd be used responsibly. I think if they were included, there would be a lot of complaints for me to deal with about players being promised out on loan as part of a bigger deal, then getting pulled back.

It's a good point to discuss though and if it's warranted, changes can be made for next season.

Richard.

How about you are only allowed say 1 or 2 recalls a season.

That may help the smaller clubs as bigger clubs would be willing to loan out some better players if they know they can recall someone if really needed but would have to weight up the pro's and cons?
Maybe a "recall" or "no recall" could be added to the transfer part of the teamsheet? that way both teams know.

Good point about re-calls, it would be a good idea if somehow that could be implemented, thus helping smaller clubs biggrin

I believe I did bring up this idea a while back and I still feel that the idea would be a good one.

Hi

Players can already be loaned out for shorter than 11 weeks - if a club loans a player out in week 5 he will go on loan for 6 weeks till week 11. Fryatt of Chelsea only joined my team for a few weeks as a result of this.

However, the recall idea I agree with from the Man City Manager as if big clubs get more flexibility over loaning out then they are more likely to do so.
