Wales U21

Now I not a lot of people might not care but  Wales U21 just kicked Frances a$$ with a team made up of 16/17/18 year olds who hardly got a handful of first team games between them.

Very proud and well done wales

It was a great result for Wales. I can see some of them going into the first team - Ramsey is going to be a quality player and with Liverpool and Chelsea having already been sniffing around who can argue?

Maybe England should be promoting some of their U21s!! They're also looking good and the full team is seriously lacking in passion.

I think Rep.Ireland are in the biggest trouble. No real young players coming through and the first team squad has been together for so long now they'll all be retiring at around the same time.

spot on rich ... there are some really good players in the U21s, the likes of Agbonlahor, Milner, Matty Derbyshire could maybe get a look in with the new manager.

There are other players who have just come out of the U21s aswell, who could get a look in. Being an evertonian i am going to say this but Leighton Baines had been tipped as a future England left-back for a long time before we bought him, and he surely should get his chance. Bridge was poor yesterday and Shorey hasnt looked quite like competition for Cole in the England games i have seen him in.

I was happy also to hear about the PM's idea about bringing back the Home Internationals. I think it would be a great idea to have over the summer as a one-off - the England-mad lot who have us as favourites for every competition we're in might actually have a better chance of being right!

Personally I don't rate A.Cole too highly. He's very good going forwards and has the occassional very good game (marking Ronaldo when they played Portugal that once) but I don't see him as good enough defensively. Considering England seriously lack a right back Cole makes the team heavily out of balance I think. I actually prefer Bridge, but think you're right about Baines. I'd take him and Bridge in the squad.

England have a serious striker problem too - Owen is not as good as he was and is injury prone, Rooney yes, Crouch is pretty poor for a top team, Defoe and Bent aren't playing... Some of the strikers from the U21s need to be given a go. Derbyshire seems a natural goalscorer and couldn't ask for a better club manager than Hughes!!

Anyone think Jose could be as good a national manager as club manager? After all he'd have no Russian billionaire backing his squad then.

Richard.

I think Wayne Bridge is a cracking player but was awful last night and should leave Chelsea for his own sake. Doesnt Baines have trouble getting into your team thought with you playing a CB (Lescott) at LB?

Persoanlly I think Bent has huge potential and if playing would be and should be first choice for England, really think he is a cracking player.

I think jose would do a brilliant job at International level but he doesnt want the England job and I dont blame him, only reason someone would want it is for the £££££££££££

Both Baines and our second choice left back Valente have been injured, with Baines injured for the first few games of the season and has been out with a knee problem (i think) since we beat derby at the end of October. He is first choice though, he cost £6m in the summer and for Everton that means first choice!!!

Lescott is our 1st choice CB with Yobo but always covers at LB when needed. He covers well but isnt anything like a natural LB and shouldnt have played there for England in Russia.
