Cardiff vacancy

I'm aware that theres a large number of Cardiff fans on FA. Anyone wishing to apply for the vacancy needs to post here including the following:

- Achievements (FA original can be included if you were on it).
- Why the board should consider you.

No manager will be appointed for a week, so people have time to get applications down ready for being considered.

Please note that by applying for this job if you don't get it you may damage your reputation with your current clubs fans and chairman.

Also please consider the reality before applying. A manager in his first season is extremely unlikely to get it. Due to the number of fans, being a Cardiff fan alone is unlikely to make your application stand out against the others.

The situation at the club is as follows: two players from the squad will have left by the end of next week but will have been replaced by four new players and money, although on top of this the chairman is not willing to offer a new manager any extra funds so don't ask for a transfer war chest as part of your application agreement.

Richard.

can i just say i think its wrong that achievements on the last FA should be included, a lot of people here werent in that game, it should be down to what has happened in the first season and a half or so

I have to say i agree, most of us managers never got the opportunity to manage in the previous FA, and although i won't be applying for the job i think it's unfair on managers like me who have no previous experience on FA.

I'm afraid I disagree. Managers have played up to 7 seasons in the old game and lost all their team building when the game was redesigned.

There's no reason managers should lose achievements from the old game is there? Unless someone can explain one to me?

If a manager joined at the start of season 2 would you say you shouldn't have the advantaged of season 1? I'm assuming you would want to keep the experience from season 1. Otherwise the managerial record is pointless because it's just being refreshed every season.

Richard.

Hi all - and thanks for the best wishes expressed by some of you here or by email.

Not really joining this debate with regard to Cardiff specifically as I have left behind a club that is better than when I found it. They have a well balanced and effective team, some money in the bank, and are both an attractive proposition and a challenge for someone to take over. Other than that it's not for me to voice an opinion on my successor.

However, as a general point I think it is worth saying that there is a lot of "I would like to take over club X and think I could do this and that" in the game. That usually translates into "because they've got loads of cash and high stat players". Let's face it that wouldn't get you a job doing anything in the real world - whatever the job.

Anyone who has been in this or the last game for any length of time will have seen a lot of clubs ruined by fly-by-night managers. Isn't it fair that whoever takes over at any club demonstrates that they have the skills or potential to fulfill the aspirations of that club - whether that's to qualify for Europe or simply avoid relegation. That's why it's important to do the best you can with whatever team you manage. Teams take a long time to build but can be destroyed by someone in a couple of weeks. I think Richard's point is correct in that mangers who have worked through the earlier game have shown stickability if nothing else. Does that mean newer managers aren't as good? No, just haven't had as much time to show what they can do. That should mean that some clubs would be more reluctant to take a chance on them .....that's fair enough isn't it?

Anyway - good luck to whoever takes over. Sorry to leave - and still not sure I made the right choice - but new challenges and all that.

Just seen the result of my first game in charge at Juventus - seem to have announced my arrival in the Italian league in emphatic style!

Bringing Welsh grit and flair to Italian football...........................

Not the amount of responses I was expecting!! Everyones suddenly discovered their loyalty.

Giuliano Giannichedda and Liam Ridgewell (yes, a CB!! What a find!!) are coming in along with some more cash, Joe Ledley is going. Thats all going to happen this week so will be done by the time a new managers announced so you won't have to worry about spaces being taken up.

Already difficult to beat (even in a higher division) with three good CB and now they'll have four! Be very jealous!

Let's hope he's very young and plans to live to a ripe old age then, as I suspect that will be a very long wait!

Well it looks like Im going to have to start the ball rolling then with an application in repsonse to the invitation from the Cardiff Board.

Despite what Steve says about people applying for jobs because they have a good team and good prospects I think it is still worth making an application so here goes!

I successfully achieved promotion via the play offs with both Middlesboro in the first FA game and have also achieved promotion with Chievo via the play offs last season. I therefore have proved that I can deal with the pressure of what are known as the biggest games of the season (Play off finals).

Whilst the situation Chievo now finds itself in is probably partly due to me in getting a team promoted when it was not quite ready I did learn from that. Therefore whilst aiming to get Cardiff as high in the league as possible, I would plan for a season in the Premiership early if that is likely to happen.

I have a good track record in doing deals and when any mistake has been made which was down to me I have publicly apologised. I have only done deals that benefit the club and therefore do not sell young players without thinking about the long term picture.

I am applying for the job in response to an invitation. I intend to stay with Cardiff for the long term. The reason for wanting to leave Chievo is that realistically there is little left that can be done as a manager once a club enters administration. If they had not entered administration I would have stayed with them until at least the end of the season. When I applied for a team in the new game I could have gone to a better known club than Chievo and this shows my loyalty to whichever team I manage.

Cardiff are a club with high hopes for the future and I believe I have the qualities to deliver their hopes in the long term.

I look forward to hearing from the Board in the near future.

Regards

JD Jaques (Chievo)
