League Game Round Up - Week Three	Permalink

MOTFA Week Three League Games Roundup Good afternoon all and welcome to the closing episode of MOTFA for the week just gone. Today we will be discussing a round up of some of the key games from the weekend just gone (And in a separate thread) a roundup of key transfers from the weekend just gone Arsenal 3 Liverpool 2 Two of the premier league "almost" title challengers met this week at the Emirates. In a vibrant and action packed game, the points were sealed by a stunning hat trick from Spaniard Fernando Torres to take his tally from 3 games to 6 goals. Arsenal edged the game, but as ever Liverpool proved they are always up for the battle and almost got a draw. Portsmouth 2 Chelsea 3 Title challengers Chelsea were lucky to escape Fratton Park with all 3 points with argueably Portsmouth creating more and being unlucky to lose the game. An entertaining game saw the winning goal coming from the unlikely source of Carvalho to seal the win. Portsmouth will be a tricky game for a lot of teams this season if todays performance is anything to go by Wigan 1 Man City 5 Man City were quite brilliant this week to allay the fans fears this season. A Raul Tamudo hat trick and a dominant performance in all areas will no doubt please the manager no end. It also puts into question the search for a top striker when the existing ones are hitting the back of the net with such ease! West Brom 3 Coventry 0 Coventry were bought down to earth with a bump this week after a poor showing at West Brom. Outmatched in all areas - it shows much work is needed to be done by the gaffer and it is also reported that the Board are unhappy at the managers decision to make public his thoughts on team selection to the opposing manager before submitting a radically different team sheet. Failed mind games perhaps? Reportedly the board fear that a manager with little intergrity in the game is more problematic than usual...... Sheff Utd 1 Bristol City 2 Plaudits are abound this week when Bristol played a manificent tactical strategy to beat a team much more highly rated that themselves. A narrow victory perhaps - but dont let detract from the result wich rightly has the fans of Bristol quitely confident of a good season Sunderland 2 Derby 2 An even match saw the points spread between the two clubs this week. Derby have issues to address however. Many a pundits tip for automatic promotion, the former premiership team need some urgency from the manager and players not to become a devision drifting club. An issue surrounds the management situation at the club perhaps? Livorno 2 Atalanta 1 A good win this week for the ever loyal Livorno manager that alay fears about the survival prospects of the club this year. An even match yes, but an enjoyable one nether the less. A good early indication of the prospects of both evenly matched teams Roma 7 Empoli 0 What can we say? an absolute master class in attacking football this week from the Rome side. A Garcia hat trick and a good range of other scorers proved too much from start to finish and Empoli have it all to do to rearrange the team for future big club encounters Sampdoria 2 Palermo 0 A good match this week, with former Evertonian Anichebe getting on the scoresheet. Work needed from the Palermo club no doubt to insure they are more competitive in following encounters. Questions are certainly being asked at time of press Atletico Madrid 5 Real Betis 1 Chris Hantons former side still riding hide after this dominant win. Real are struggling to compete at this level and the new boss is under pressure to deliver. Questions raised over his appointment in light of performances like this - where is the fire? where is the hard work? Valencia 2 Levante 2 Valencia struggled today and were widely tipped to get all three points.
