Italian Serie B Week 9 Preview

Ascoli V Palermo

Ascoli and Palermo will both fight for three points this week in what could be a cruical game for both teams as it coul help Palermo pull away from the other teams who want to fight for the automatic promotion spot or it could give Ascoli a really good chance of of keeping in the automic promotion fight with Palermo.

Ascoli will be looking to bounce back from their first defeat to unbeaten Sampdoria but know they gave them a very tough game and will look to do the same against Palermo but with a victory ater the game. Palermo however will be looking to perform much better than they did against bottom placed Torino with a in and a better all round display.

Ascoli could go into the game unchanged but Sam Williamson and Angel ll be knocking on the door to try and get back into the team and Glenn Whitter might decide on making some changes with Federico Agliardi should get the nod over Matt Murray and Cristian Zaccardo,Aimo Diana,Amauri all pushing for starting places also Peter Luccin after his deal to Southampton fell through might get the chance back in the team.

Key Men:
Pietro Arcidiacono (Ascoli) - Has been in brilliant form and with 6 goals and 4 assists to his name will be looking to his tally against Palermo.

Josh Walker (Palermo) - Haslooked sharpe since his move from Middleborough and gives them a rell attacking edge on the left wing that they were missing at the start of the season.

Messina V Sampdoria

Unbeaten Sampdoria will travel to Messina looking for they're ninth win on the trot in the league in front of live tv camera's for the game while Messina will be hoping their 2-0 win last week against Siena will help them produce better performances and results but aren't expecting a lot from this game.

Messina will make one change from their winning team last week with Mathew Olorunleke which will give Rok Straus,Manolo Pestrin,Girolamo Provenzano a chance to get in the team as Messna have no other recongnised defenders in the team.

Key Men:
Rob Hulse (Messina) - after geting a double on the weekend will be in a confident mood come this saturday.

Wes Morgan (Sampdoria) - Is one of the main reasons why Sampdoria have only conceded two goals in eight games and has chipped in with a couple of oals as well to help the cause further.

Chievo V Torino

Two teams who played considerably well on the weekend sadly Torino are still bottom of the table and i don't think they'll be a match for Chievo after a very good 2-0 win over Genoa will be looking to produce a similiar display and keep climbing the table for automatic promotion. This game should give Chievo the chance to step up the hunt for aumtoatci promotion with Palemro facing a tough trip to Ascoli this week so its an important game for them.

Both teams are likely to field the same temas they did last time out as neither teams has any suspensions or injuries to worry about.

Key Men:
Alvaro Recoba (Chievo)  - He has fit straight into Chievo's team perfetly and has been the reason for their surge up the table.

Claudio De Sousa (Torino) - Will be looking to rediscover some o his form from last season that made him a threat.

Cagliari V Siena

Both teams have under performed so far this season but both will look to try and improve that in the next few weeks. agliari will be looking to get a much needed win to try and get back into play-off contention while Siena will look to finish this season in the top 10 and anything other than a defeat will be an improvement. Cagliari should be able to get their second win of the season and they will undoubtely have to much quality here.

Siena i imagine will be unchangedfrom last week Cagliari will be without Jack obbs due to injury so this gives new loan signing Richard Stearman and also other new signing Seol Ki-Hyeon from Reading should push into the team leaving Alessandro Budel on the bench.

Key Men:
Theo Walcott (Cagliari) - Hasn't delivered so far for Cagliari but he has the quality to deliver some important performances for Cagliari.

Ruben Olivera (Siena) - One of the few Siena players that have looked reasonably good this season.

Catania V Reggina

Both teams have had mixed seasons so far with Catania shocking everyone by being 3rd while Reggina still can't buy a win Catania have been able to solve their problem of scoring this season whilst that has been Reggina's major reason why they have yet to win they haven't scored enough goals but Dave Davies Evans has been trying to improve his team by any measure he could.

Catania will probably we unchanged but Lee Johnson could be in contention to start while for Reggina Marco Mancosu will start on on th left wing after just signing on loan fo Reggina to help them.

Key Men:
Cedric Roussel (Catania) - has been in great form this season in Catania's surprise promtion push.

Henri Shiba (Reggina) - Young talent has quality and hopefully can start producing more goals for the team soon.

Genoa V Napoli
Important game for the teams on either side of the play-offs in 6th and th both have been very in consistent either winning or losing but both have the quality to produce when they need to so it'll be a tough encounter.Genoa will make one change with Borja Fernandez injured and Alessandro Di Maio will replace him. Napoli will probably be unchanged from the 1-1 draw against Cagliari.Key Men:Johann Vogel (Napoli) - Has been the driving force in Napoli's midfield and if he can be on top of his game aganst Genoa, Napoli have a good chance of winning it.Luciano Figueroa (Genoa) - Has been the main reason Genoa are up there for his goals because their defence haven't been good enough.
