I would like to officially confirm my interest in becoming the manager of Manchester United. They are in my eyes a massive club and in a position where they currently should not be in.
I think all supporters of Celta Vigo will understand why I have applied and I really hope the Chairman understands my reasoning.
As for achievments in the game I started at Leeds United. I think this was my managerial apprenticeship. I made feeder clubs link up with Barcelona and Chelsea and took Leeds from close to bottom in League 1 to playoff losers in 2 seasons without spending a penny. This season I have taken an aging relegated Celta Vigo side and made them into a more youthfull team and hit my achievment target in taking them back up to the Primera league.
Manchester United are also an aging side at the moment and taking this job would be a massive task but with my help and a little investment and patience im sure the glory days will soon be back to Old Trafford and a younger youthfull attacking side will be in place to catch back up with Chelsea and Arsenal.
I would like to apply for the vacant managers position at Old Trafford.
A job as great and illustrious as the Manchester United job doesnt come around too often, and with them being the team I have always supported, I feel the time is right to apply.
During my first season in Football Academy, I was given a tough task off managing Sheffield Wednesday. I had very little funds to work with, and brought in some decent players. This resulted in making the team stronger, and in me finishing a couple of place above my seasons target.
After Season 1, the Espanyol Board approached me. They had obviously acknowledged and recognised that I did a good job whilst at Sheffield Wednesday. They offered me the managers role, which I was delighted to accept.
I have been at Espanyol since the start of Season 2 until present. I have had no investment from the current Chairman, which I must also state, I havent complained about. I have just been happy to get on with the job, and make Espanyol a quality side. With the lack of investment, I have brought in excellent players such as, Robin van Persie, Maxi Lopez, Ariel Ortega and Luis Jimenez, whilst also managing to expand the stadium. The ability to bring in such great players, hasnt deterred the clubs finances, as I have still managed to keep transfer kitty fairly healthy. Also, during my 2 seasons at Olimpic Montjuic I have successfully achieved my seasons targets in both years.
I feel I would be the right man to place Manchester United back to the pinnacle of world football, as I have explained above and actually carried out in my managerial career, that I can work with no or little funds to build a squad capable of achieving its targets. Looking at Uniteds current squad, they still have world class players that are capable of achieving success, but they also have aging stars, who are maybe holding the team back from actually capturing the success such a fabulous team deserves. I truly believe that I can freshen up the squad, and bring silverware and the glory days back to the Theatre of Dreams.
I would like to throw my full weight behind Craig's application for Manchester United and strongly urge the Old Trafford hierarchy to act quickly to secure there man.
Craig is one of the more softly spoken managers in the FA world and although I have had limited dealings and communication with him you cannot fail to be impressed with his ability to build a team to achieve his goals. His skills lend themselves perfectly to taking Manchester United back to their rightful position in the elite group of European Football!
