Tactics

Just a thought.
If "Tactics" play a real part in the way a game is influenced then I believe that they should be shown on the results sheet. This way it would be easier to see if your approach to a match was right. It would also show you when your tactics were wrong.
It would certainly give you much more feedback.

After all, you would be able to see what tactics are being employed in a match or your scout would be able to report on what tactics were used in a match he attended.

Tezza.

I've added a poll to this thread to collect opinions. It really depends whether you want to see peoples tactics, or whether you don't want others to see yours.

I agree with Tezza - at a match you would be able to determine what tactics the opposition were using, at the moment in FA you have little idea. Because of this it is difficult to evaluate your own tactics. I would guess that most managers have picked one or two tactical setups that seem to work for them or fit the the formation / players they have available.

Fine if this suits you but some managers may want the option of analysing how their tactics work against other tactical set-ups and in varying conditions and therefore should have the option if they chose to use it.

Gives another area of detail for those who want it and it won't tell you what tactics your opponent will use in any particular game (unless they are a team who use the same tactics all the time).

PS I this isn't popular and people want something more complicated what about the option of employing a scout for your team to watch other teams play. Tactical information could then be made available only to managers who have scouting staff?

I personally wouldnt want anyone seeing my tactics and I wouldnt want to see anyone elses. I think thats part of the fun of the game to guess the other persons tactics and trying to counteract them

How about having some more stats in the results showing what percentage of the play went down the flanks or up the middle or kept at the back? That could give me an idea what tactics they played without just saying it

As a manager in real life and now a coach I wouldnt want any other team looking at my tactics. Thats why I shut the dressing room door.

I think we should have the option of naming a captain. That must influence a game ?
Whats everyone think.
Fletch it was your media that gave me the idea about Garcia

Hi

I like Stuart's idea of more stats to give you an idea. I wouldnt want to see other peoples or them see mine. The weather now influences how I play quite heavily and I would assume other people too.

I like the idea of having a captain and also maybe the use of subs, you could pick a player to come on if in a losing position and like Rafa take your best players off in a winning position.

Not sure how much work that would be tho.

Looking at Gareth's team Captain Birdseye would probably fit in very well!

I think the only people who'd want tactics shown are the people who aren't good with tactics.

All I was asking, in essence, was to watch the match I have prepared for, and see if my tactics were in fact a deciding factor in the result.

Some people like to work in the dark! Is that skill or is it dictated by individual ratings on a paper?

So what are everyones thoughts on the use of subs.

I thought it might make the game even more realistic.

Another good idea to "make a difference."
By having something like....losing at half time.....change something!

this is all gr8, the subs, tactics change at 1/2 time. I mean most clubs do it anyway, and while at it, then, add mentality and formation. Personally, i feel like on most occasions i am bound to win, and don't. I guess it would be more decisive to tweak the team some more until it is exactly how you want it, mourinho style...

...Question is, how much of the game can rich change.

Formation is dictated by the players you pick. Players can only play one position so if you pick GK-RB-CB-CB-LB-RM-CM-CM-LM-ST-ST you'll be playing a standard 4-4-2 formation. Some people struggle because they try and play lopsided formations with say a RB and no LB, thinking it equates to a back 3 of CBs, which it doesn't because the RB can't play CB. It does say in the rules players can only play their specified position.

I'll look into the tactics issue. Clearly a lot of people don't want it shown so I may look at a few more 'match stats' to help those who want more info.

Richard.
