Real Sociedad produced an outstanding performance to hold up Gimnastic till extra time and carried on to win 4 - 2 on penalties.
In the post match conference, dejected Gimnastic Manager Jackie voiced out his disappointment for not able to be promoted despite having outstanding performances throughout the season.
"We had an outstanding performance throughout the season. You look at the table, you will expect Gimnastic (having 44 points) to go through and not Real Sociedad (having just 29 points). Its just unlucky to lose in the playoff final and the greatest disappointment is to lose on penalties."
When asked about his future, Gimnastic Manager Jackie replied, "I vow to stay for another season and this time I will bring Gimnastic to the La Liga."
"I may offload some players next season and bring in some fresh faces to take up the challenges for the next season. For now, I will enjoy my end-of-season holiday to forget my disappointment of the season."
