Milan Mandaric and Martin Simons have both released statements through their club websites that they are both stepping down from their respective clubs with immediate effect. Mandaric has already bank rolled a financially struggling Leicester to keep them from entering administration last season but the club have fallen under heavy wage bills, low crowd attendances and poor league form and it appears Mandaric refused to save the club again. Last week they entered administration and today Mandaric has thrown the clubs future into doubt by stepping down. Reports suggest this will throw the club into over £20 million of debt.
Meanwhile Simons has been the chairman at Charlton for some time. The club have struggled to live up to expectation and after falling into League One, have failed to match promotion expectations despite a Championship size and quality squad. Simons briefly told fans he was unprepared to continue to back failure and that it was time for a new owner to bring fresh ideas and a 'revolution' was needed to save the club. Simons refused to confirm how much debt the club would be thrown into with his leaving.
*Felix Bastians claimed his 2nd goal of the season for Forest* Nottm Forest 2-2 Reading
Nottm Forest claimed another impressive point this week as they drew with Reading at the City Ground. Forest dropped to 5th place after the game but currently still only sit 1 point from top place Leeds who they play next at Elland Road. We caught up with Forest manager Steve Davies-Evans after the game at his post match press conference.
Media - Steve, are you happy with the point you got?
SDE - Yeah I think it was a fair point. It was a very even game and I suppose it would have been harsh on any side to have lost it although once we were in a winning position, I'd liked to have seen us hold onto it for longer.
Media - Were you impressed with your teams character after going one down?
SDE - Yeah I was and I have told them that in the dressing room. We seem to like making it hard for ourselves and that's not the first time we've come back to lead after going one down but this time, we couldnt keep them out and hang onto the win.
Media - It's still very close at the top of league 1 with the top 5 teams all seperated by a point, do you see this continuing?
SDE - Well I see it being close between the top 3 formost of the season. I can see Leeds being the team that pull away if any do.
Media - You now face Leeds and ofcourse your brother Dave, How much of a daunting prospect is that for you and your team?
SDE - I don't think it's daunting! I think they are a very good team and we will give them the respect they deserve but we have been in decent form and I'm sure that Dave will be very relieved if he comes away with a win. We won't be going there to roll over or make up the numbers. I feel they have weaknesses and I will be working with the players over the next week to try and get them to exploit them weaknesses. The fact that Leeds are managed by my brother means nothing, except until after the game when I will have to buy the drinks as Dave never pts his hand in his pocket unlike most managers.
Media - Will it be a fierce battle amoungst the Davies-Evans brothers away from the media spotlight?
SDE - No not at all. I love my brother dearly and we will have abit of banter but it's always a bitter/sweet experience for us if there is ever a winner. We realise that Leeds United are massive favourites for this game and the pressure will be on Leeds to get a result and thats how we like it. Nobody ever expects anything from us and we like to sail under the radar.
Media - So would you say you are confident that you can get a result?
SDE - Yeah I'm always confident! C'mon boys....you should know that about me by now. I believe we can get a positive result from every game and the Leeds game will be no different. We have a game plan and if we can execute it on the day, we will get something from the game.
Media - Redondo in this week, what will he bring to your team?
SDE - Well you have seen how well Aaron [Ramsey] has done so far, I believe that Redondo can have the same impact as Aaron and Jonathan Howson have already made. I think it will be an interesting season and I can only thank Stuart [Price] at Cardiff again for allowing these players to come to us.

Good afternoon all we have today managed to have a quick meeting with Leeds manager David Davies-Evans after leaving the FA headquarters in Milton Keynes.
Hi David you were summoned to FA headquarters, what is the reason behind this. "I have just had a meeting with Mr Jenkins the head of FA to answer to some comments i have made in other parts of media. I would like to publicly apologise if i have upset anybody with my comments made."
Did you receive any punnishment David?
" No i have escaped with a firm warning this time, i must learn to keep my comments to myself otherwise there is a big chance i will be removed from my post as Leeds manager."
On a better note David what a fantastic start to the new season top of the leauge and unbeaten.
Its been a fantastic start and im very impressed with my squad and backroom staff. We have just come out of our two toughest games in our leauge unbeaten and still top.
What of this weeks game then Dave
Well its a small matter of me vs Steve and i believe for the first time i am favourite. This is going to be a very tough game for us he is a talented manager and has great knowledge of this game. His link up with Cardiff has proberbly built the strongest midfield in the leauge, apart from mine of course. We need to get back to winning ways after 2 3-3 draws, however this is not nailed on against a young talented squad like forest have.
You have conceded 6 goals in two games Dave what are you going to do about that. I have realised i need to strengthen the defence and im bringing in two very good CB's this week and a very good GK next week. Then we will see Peter Crouch joining us. Im also close to a deal for a very good CB. which i will confirm in the next couple of weeks. We are also singing Jankovic he is a right midfeilder who will help Ross out and push him all the way for a first team place.
Spurs manager Richard Jefferies was pleased to collect 3 points from the visit to Bolton, he said " We have had three very tough games against teams who will in the top half of the league and we have done very well in all those games without picking up any points, so it was crucial to collect 3 points this week"
" We played some great football with a real understanding developing between Adebayor and young Levi Porter, Mei did very well on debut for a 20 yr old and even got himself on the scoresheet so all is good "
Aston Villa manager Liam Riste has stated that the 1-1 draw his team earned at Anfield on Saturday was a fantastic result. He commented;
" We will have had to play the best 4 teams in my eyes, in our first 5 games of the season. So if you had asked me whether I expected to get anything from these 4 games, I would have to have been honest and said a point from each game would have been ideal. As it happens, a loss at Arsenal was disappointing as they had their reserve goalie in and to go 1-0 up against league champions Chelsea only to lose 3-1 was slightly disappointing. Yet again we went 1-0 up against Liverpool but to hold a draw was pleasing. I think we just need to learn to batten down the hatches in defence and then we will have an upper hand in the fight to stay in the top flight. "
When asked what the future held for Aston Villa, Liam Riste responded;
" Obviously the main objective for a newly promoted team is to gain a foot-hold in the league, survive and build a good squad. I am quitely confident that we can survive, we just need to forget the fact that we have dropped into the relegation despite a draw last weekend. I have told my team that where we currently sit is a great achievement so far with the games we've played and not to lose any confidence at all. I have arranged a deal a while ago which will see a temporary signing of a big name central defender and I am looking into another temporary solution for a right-back who i s a young talent and I hope that if I can agree terms with his club manager, he will join us and blossom into a key part of our defence. "
Claude Kurson has spoken out of the joy he is having at watching his team punching so high in the Spanish La Liga. Following his purchase of the club he invested in the recently relegated team and manager Iain Kochanowksi spent the money under the radar of many of the other big spenders, deciding to invest in defensive players. Levante were promoted at the end of last season and have already collected 2 wins out of 4 this season.
"To see us sitting 5th is a great thrill for me. The manager has bought cleverly and I think we are a combative team who can still play with a little flair. Some of the Spanish teams maybe don't expect us to be so strong on the pitch so maybe we are not really Spanish in our style. I hope the season continues like this."
Martins unveiled
Atletico Madrid announced their arrival on the big transfer stage this week by signing Arsenal striker Obafemi Martins in a massive £28 million swoop. However in his first interview in Spain Martins was clearly unhappy with life at Arsenal.
"Things are not right there. We have already lost 2 games and drawn 1 in 4 matches. 7 points dropped writes us out of the title race nearly and we haven't played 5 matches yet. More young players are coming in and the manager was happy for older players to go. Rosicky is leaving on loan soon; I think that sums up the problems."
Lerner pleased with progress
Randy Lerner has moved to support his manager Liam Riste this week following the managers interview with the media. The Villa owner has invested cash in the club to make sure they avoid a relegation fight but currently sit 10th in the Premiership after an easy promotion season.
"Just look at the games so far. Spurs beat the team at the bottom in their only win but we have drawn with Arsenal. Liam will obviously continue to look to recruit players who will improve us so I don't see our league position is a cause of worry just yet."
Mort quiet on Charlton rumours
Ex Newcastle owner Chris Mort has refused to comment on reports in the English press this afternoon that he is in discussions over buying debt ridden Charlton. The League One club have to clear around £20 million debt however Mort reportedly walked away with around £90 million when he sold his shares in Newcastle and could buy the London club and clear all their debts in one sweep. Pundits have suggested managers may become interested in the vacant job with the thought of Mort backing large transfer deals at that level.
Roma in stormy waters
Following the defeat against Fiorentina at the weekend with a late Hugo Viana goal sealing their fait, Roma fans unleashed a torrent of jeers towards the players and the manager. Glenn Whitter showed a skill for the Italian style of football achieving surprising success with Palermo in Serie A in recent seasons however after a high profile move to Roma in the summer many pundits in Italy believe Whitter has choked at the chance of stardom.
A number of questionable transfer deals have been matched by terrible league form picking up just 2 points from the opening 4 games, despite the board expecting Whitter to continue to deliver the silverware that proceeding his arrival.
Last season saw a disappointing capitulation of the title to rivals Juventus as Whitter took over the (at the time) league leaders. It appears fans aren't prepared to put up with continued disappointment and protests are planned against the current management and board.
Parma want Evans
Tommaso Ghirardi has come out publicly stating what he wants to appoint Brescia manager Huw Evans as the new Parma boss. Evans was tipped for a move abroad following his promotion with Brescia but turned down a move to then Premiership Watford in favour of staying loyal to Brescia. Unfortunately Brescia were relegated to Serie B at the end of the season but Evans has made Brescia the commanding force in Serie B already as they have been marked clear favourites to win the division.
Parma are just 1 point off 2nd place in Serie A at the moment and with a little work some pundits believe they could challenge the more established big clubs who are currently faltering. So far there has been no comment from Evans.
Rumour Mill
Tomas Rosicky will revive his planned move to Ascoli in week 7 where he will stay for the remainder of the season on loan with the view to a permanent move.
Liam Riste is willing to listen to offers on top striker David Villa but only if he can land his top transfer target Adriano from Real Madrid.
Espanyol are planning a double swoop for Everton's Joseph Yobo and Midlesbrough's Aiyegbeni Yakubu.
Villarreal are looking for a new manager to back financially in the hope of moving up the table and League One leader Dave Davies-Evans is top of their list of candidates.
Sunderland will sign Gary Teale from Levante in a £2 million deal to add experience and width to their midfield in their push for the division title.
Celta Vigo are leading the race to sign Leicester striker Paulinho.
Real Sociedad have been put off a proposed move for young Sunderland striker Martyn Waghorn after the club slapped a £12 million price tag on him.
Real Madrid have been told they will have to spend over £15 million if they want long term target Joe Hart from Man City despite the Manchester club looking to change their squad.
Sevilla centre back Danny Gabbidon is close to signing for rivals Real Madrid.
Gabbidon's defensive partner Rafael Marquez is also soon to quit the club following numerous enquiries regarding in his services.
Maxi Lopez has back Craig Radford to deliver what all Man United fans want by storming away to and English trophy double.
Villarreal are looking for a new manager to back financially in the hope of moving up the table and Wigan boss Ashley Harris is top of their list of candidates.
A statement has just come in From Roma manager Glenn Whitter, on the poor start the club has made this season:
The manager went on to say he understands the dissapointment the fans are going through at this time, and agree's that the performance's on the pitch needs to improve dramaticaly. Also he went on to say that the club is getting a bit of bad luck recently due to the two late goals conceded this week and the one point we took from Sampodoria's game due to yet another late time goal a few weeks back. He mentioned that the loss of Raul, Totti and Luis Garcia last season was a huge blow even to anyside. Plus was dissapointed in not recieving any funds to recover the loss of those players.
'' I knew the job was a mammoth task to take on before i came to the club, and asks the fans for a bit more time to turn things around. The squads average age was a big issue aswell as the retirements as just mentioned, things like this dont take days to change. I can say i am pleased with the players ive brought in this season as they have a couple of more years left in them and that the team's a lot younger as a whole''.
He finished of by saying theres a few more players leaving (no names) and hopefuly with the funds i can look to bring in new faces, if it's through the scouting window or through other teams.
Dave would be a great person for the job - Steve Davies-Evans
Nottingham Forest manager Steve Davies-Evans has stated that he feels his brother would be the perfect manager to take the reins at Villareal.
"Yeah I have seen the reports and although it would be a great loss to Leeds United, he would do a great job in Spain. I'm not sure how accurate the reports are but it would be great to see Dave do well and to push on and get a job like that. He has already shown this season that he has what it takes and Im sure that Villareal aren't the only team keeping an eye on what he does."
Leeds United manager Dave Davies-Evans issues statement
As Leeds United manager Dave Davies-Evans arrived at the training ground, he was met by a hoard of journalists desperate to get some reaction from the Welshman regarding recent reports that he is favourite to take over at Spanish Premiera side Villareal. Davies-Evans had the following to say...........
I would like to take this oppertunity to put Leeds United fans minds at rest. There has been no contact from Villareal so it is currently purely speculation. I am of course flattered to be linked with a club of that stature and it means that we must be doing something right but, until there is an official approach made to the chairman, there is nothing really to talk about.
I am loving my time at Leeds United and it would take something special to prize me away from this great club but as I have said - at this point, it is merely speculation so there is nothing left to say.
If the club recieve an approach then we can look at the situation but Leeds United fans can reast assured that until that point, I will be going about my business in exactly the same way as I am commited to this football club.
Outspoken Sampdoria boss Mark Rollings has sparked debate throughout Europe by insisting the Italian top flight's managerial talent dwarfs that of its continental rivals. Speaking at a club press conference Rollings suggested club chairman from around Europe would 'inevitably' be casting admiring glances towards Italian club managers in the hope of reviving their clubs fortunes.
"There is some serious managerial talent in Serie A, I think you only have to look at who is in the top 6 or 7 clubs in that league to see some big personalities doing a tremendous job with their clubs. Obvioulsy Steve Jenkins has developed Juventus into one of the most talented squads in Europe and with several young lads already in the team they look set to dominate for years to come. However, perhaps more subtely guys like Luke Coakley (AC Milan), Rob O'Brien (Fiorentina), Chris Ratcliff (Genoa) and Jamie Best (Inter Milan) have done a tremendous job. I think with big clubs throughout Europe will be attempting to lure these guys away before too long"
With the European cup being largely dominated by Spanish and English clubs over the past few seasons Rollings' claims will face their fair share of doubters, but the contraversial boss insisted talent in those respective nations was dwindling and club chairman would be better to bite the bullet and go after the top talents.
"It will be interesting to see what these guys (Chairman) outside Italy do now. I think there are a few clubs who are not performing and the buck has to stop with the managers. With all the money in football now their is so much pressure to keep performances and results up and I just don't think there is the necerssary calibre of managers outside Serie A."
Rollings stopped short of finger pointing, but his words are likely to ignite a fiery response outside the Azzuri borders.
The club would like to confirm that no offer from Real Madrid has been made for Goalkeeper Joe Hart, Joe is a vital part of our clubs future and it would take a fantastic offer to take him away from Eastlands. We would like to be upfront and honest with our fans and we can confirm that two clubs have been in talks with us about him and nothing has been done or likely to be done at this stage.
Manager Chris Hanton would like to re shuffle the squad but Joe Hart remains a major part of the managers plans and would like the player to stay at the club, but he says every player has a price.
Other News
Wes Brown has agreed a move away from Eastlands and will move in the next couple of weeks, the club would like to thank Wes who has been a great player for us over the last year since his move from Barcelona.

Getafe manager Mr C.Jefferies has accepted the vacant Sheff Wed job. C.jefferies said " I have had a great time at Getafe and for my first experience as a manager it has been amazing. I would just like to thank the chairman and players at getafe and tell the i am sorry for leaving but i couldn't pass down a oppurtunity like this "
Liam Riste is willing to listen to offers on top striker David Villa but only if he can land his top transfer target Adriano from Real Madrid.
When asked by the press about this rumour, Riste responded;
" I would like to put this issue to rest here and now. David Villa has a great future ahead of him and it belongs at Aston Villa. Michael Owen and David Villa are priceless to our club and strikeforce. Even though I am aware that Adriano is a big name and a good striker, I haven't been approached, or approached Real Madrid on a deal for him. I don't intend on signing another striker this season as John Carew is stepping up his game to match his high profile strike partners; he proved this by scoring our only goal against Liverpool at the weekend. "
Riste also commented on the support shown by Villa Chairman Randy Lerner:
" Mr. Lerner has been fantastic. He has shown loyalty and ambition to the club by investing £15m into the club at the beginning of this season. I do intend on capturing more players, but it will only be on a temporary basis now as I have already used the budget to sign big names like Owen and Gattuso. I am delighted he believes in my ability to keep the club safe and will not let him or the fans down! We have to bite the bullet at the moment as we have slipped into the drop-zone, but as Randy and I have stated, teams that are also fighting to survive have had easier games, so our road ahead should be less rocky. "

Middlesboro hot shot striker Aiyegbeni Yakubu today laughed off rumours linking him with a move to Spain.
Aiyegbeni Yakubu's personal website quoted the player as saying he is enjoying life at Middlesboro and wants to achieve success in England and help his club back among the elite... it went on to say he is not looking to move away and join a bunch of OAPS playing out the last days of their career in the sunshine
Yakubu who already has 2 goals and an incredable 8 assists is playing at the top of his form Manager Tony Wood was quoted as saying "Quality players will always be linked to clubs, Aiyegbeni is a top quality player playing in a top quality League and is playing the best football so its inevitable his name will be involved in transfer speculation, Middlesboro Football club have no intention of selling him.
Nottm Forest (5th) v Leeds United (1st) (Davies-Evans v Davies-Evans)
Pre match press conference with Nottm Forest manager Steve Davies-Evans
Media - Steve, are your team ready for what will likely be a very tough game?
SDE - We we still have a couple of things to work on but I couldn't be happier with the way the players have trained this week.
Media - How have the Cardiff City players settled into training and the teams approach to the games?
SDE - Well I think that their performances on the pitch have shown that they have settled into the team very well and there is no difference in training. They are very good players that have obviously been well drilled by Stuart Price and we are very happy to have them in the squad.
Media - It has been highlighted that you have a very attack minded team but ahead of a game against a team that scores atleast 3 goals a game so far, what have you done to try and shut Leeds out?
SDE - Well there's no question that they have an attacking team also and like us - I think their defence isn't the strongest either so we will be looking to exploit that. I have confidence in my defence to do a job on their strikers and and hopefully keep them quiet.
Media - Do you plan plug your defence somehow?
SDE - Yes I've been working all week to bring in defenders and I hope to conclude a deal this week to bring in one Centre Back and I hope to bring in another from the Premiership next week. We have also contacted a good friend of mine about the possibility of bringing in another but as of yet, we haven't hear anything back but we hope something can be done. We feel that if we can shut teams out at one end, we have the players to create chances and score goals at the other.
Media - Is there to be a Cardiff City player joining this week?
SDE - Yes and we feel that Pietro Arcidiacono will give us a real cutting edge upfront and will hopefully form a formidable partnership upfront with Jonathan Howson. I'm hoping that we are really starting to build a good side and we want to give ourselves the best possibility of a decent season.
Media - Do you feel the pressure is on your brother this week?
SDE - I think it's totally on Dave!! They are top, they are in a great run of form and on paper - they should walk over us shouldn't they? We know however that football isn't played on paper and we wil be doing everything possible to get a positive result from the game and Dave and Leeds United know this so I can't imagine that they are too comftable.
Nobody has been able to beat Leeds so far this season.....
Media - Do you think you can?
SDE - I think it's possible but we know we have to be at our best and we need them to have an off day. If we can get a positive result from this game, I think it will show how far we've come but we are under no illusions, this is likely to be a very tough game and we are massive underdogs.....but that's how we like it!
Napoli manager JD Jaques spoke to the press this week following a short break away.
"I was pleased with the result against Empoli last week. We got a draw in a heated atmosphere and remin unbeaten in the league. Whilst we lost to Empoli in the Cup the other week it was more important to us to get something out of the league game."
"We now lie second in the league and whilst it is early days I am pleased with that position. We face a tough game against the leaders Brescia this week. They have some very good players and have a potent striker in Kamara, but they are also scoring goals from all over the field. We are certainly outsiders to get anything out of the game. Having said that we often perform well against the bigger teams so I am hoping that we may at least get a draw. It would be nice to continue to be on top of the chasing pack."
"I see that Mark Rollings thinks that Serie A is a hotbed of managerial talent. He lists the Genoa manager Chris Ratcliffe as among those doing a tremendous job. I have to say that whilst there is no criticism of Chris directly as you can only do the job you are given, it would be easy for any manager to climb from Serie B to head Serie A if they were bankrolled the way Genoa have been by their charman. Perhaps I am slightly jealous, but having said that there is no real challenge in being in charge of a team that has the ability to buy any player at any price."
At his weekly press conference this afternoon, 2-time FA Hall of Famer Chris Ratcliff was questioned on Napoli manager John Daniel Jaques recent outburst concerning his managerial ability.
"I'm not too fussed what these people's short-sighted views are to be honest. If he wants to ignore my past successes and jump on that particular bandwagon then he's quite welcome to. It's the players that I feel sorry for most. They've put in a terrific early effort to leave us top of the league, albeit at an early stage, and they continue to be starved of the credit they deserve.
"The next few weeks have us up against some magnificent teams. The games should be real belters, and I feel will demonstrate the point Mark Rollings made earlier in the week. Hopefully the team can continue their good work, and with a bit of luck it will persuade the chairman to put in a bit more money so we can make full use of the scouting window in a couple of weeks time. That would really annoy some of my fellow managers!"
4 games into the season, and Atletico manager Paul Harrington was upbeat about how the season had gone so far, despite just picking up 4 points from 4 games.
" i dont think the season has been a disataster, we ran barca very close at the start, then we tried something new against Real which didnt work. i can only fault the players for their performace against espanyol, other than that its been a solid enough start to the year. we have had a massive squad overhaul in the last few weeks, having to sell some players i would rather keep to bring some quality to this club, las season Madrid finished 5th, 2 ahead of espanyol and 12 behind valencia, we will be working hard to close that gap and build for next season, which is when i expect this team to push on"
Harrington also mentioned his eagerness to test himself against several high profile managers in La Liga, including this weeks opponents Huleva, managed by Stew
"Stew's proven to be a good manager and has had a fair amount of money to spend since he came here. he wont be looking at the table too much right now, considering who they have played and i expect a very tough match. we have options all over the pitch for this one, and have so far played 1,2 and 3 up front this season, 2 would be my preferred option so we will have to look at wheather martins starts today, also lescott and iago are both itching to play and me and the coaching staff will take right up untill kick off before deciding the team"
before leaving Harrington was asked to comment on future transfer dealings after a busy period for the club.
"hleb is playing his last game for us before joining up with arsenal, we have also secured a deal for lennon, however he will stay with milan for the remainder of the season, and only yesterday we secured a top quality striker from England, he will also be rejoining his current club on loan where we expect him to have an excellent season in a good side"
