Managers all ask for investment. The thing is in a weeks time most of those people will be writing media complaining that their chairman hasn't invested. If your chairman has less than 4 finances, don't expect investment. You may get a little, in which case be pleased and surprised. If you have an ambitious chairman with 4+ finance you can expect to see investment every season or two. But if you look around there aren't that many of those chairmen about, and certainly not at a lot of the clubs whose managers have come out asking for funds recently.
To answer a question a few have asked - if you want to talk to your chairman about something general (like investment) do it through the media. I read it all and put any factors I need to from the media into the game. But at this time of the season I don't have time to write replies to every finances request at every club, so you probably won't see a reply from your chairman. If you have something very specific to ask email and I'll do my best to portray an answer, but don't do this for anything general that could be put into media.
Job offers have been going out continuously over the last 2 weeks. You may have one pending, I may be waiting to see if manager X moves clubs before I offer a job to you though, so don't assume you've been totally ignored. Also keep in mind some clubs are being "held back" due to certain circumstances. This just means they won't have a manager until they've evened themself out (eg. Sevilla) as a manager going in at that club would have an easy ride and would quickly get bored. And finally remember I offer clubs out for a reason. I'm not undervaluing you if I offer you someone you initially think is rubbish. All offers have positives and negatives. The negative is usually rebuilding of the squad as big clubs generally become free when they have old squads so if you want a good chairman or a high class club with good youth or stadium, you might have to accept you will get a group of old players. The young teams are generally the rebuilt teams who are low down in the system, and therefore less appealing to you as you see them as a step backwards.
Finally, if I offer manager X a better job than you, its because they have been scored higher on the categories I rate managers on. Your tactical knowledge, transfer ability, financial handlings, squad development, loyalty, media activities, general attitude etc. is all taken into account. One club may simply want someone with a good transfer rating and you could be better at everything else but it be offered to a manager just good at transfers. It all depends on timing and needs.
I hope this answers questions, and generally helps cut down the number of emails I get and/or makes people feel a little better.

i have put not-so-subtle hints about money in my media recently, but i dont do it becasue i expect it, i do it because i WANT it and hope to get a reaction from the chairman. im sure a lot of people do the same. at the end of the day, money is the easiest way to move ahead in this game, as it almost takes some of the skill away from the tactical side..... and we all want an easy life!! lol
