Week 7

Jonny Sinclair several hours after the embarassing 8-1 defeat to Fiorentina talked to the press about his sheer anger and disgust for his team's passionless and gutless display.

'I have never been this anger and hurt before at this club and this is my fourth season we were shambles defence shocking, forwards got no service midfield were pathetic and this was my first team im seriously worried we have given god accounts of ourselves against the likes of AC Milan and Genoa but this comes out of nowhere my reserve squad would have got a better result today.

The players who played will not be payed this week i have not bothered discussing this with them because they don't deserve it and they should fully well know it that money is going to the fans who bothered to turn up to the game and saw probably the worst Ascoli performance in our history.

The worrying thing is we still have to face Juventus twice this season god know how we'll perform in those games i have a RB coming in this week hopefully he can do the things told of him I can only say sorry to the fans and of course Roberto no one is as disappointed with this result as me and i must share some of the responsibility of that display and i will try to correct it as soon as possible Fiorentina are a very good side don't get me wrong we weren't expected to get anything out of the game but at least give them a challenge and make it difficult for them and we didn't do that by any stretch of the imagination we were 6-1 at half time which beggars belief no disrespect but Serie B teams such as Torino and Cagliari would have be more equipped than we were today and our goal difference is laughable now it wasn't great anyway the only positive i can take is that we are still ahead of Brescia for this week and only a point of Udinese we have to face Brescia next week and I'll make sure the players at least play with some passion and heart because thats all i can ask for and I the fans and the chairmen were badly let down by them today but we look ahead and Brescia next week is a brilliant chance to make amends for it and we can definately get a win as i know what my players are capable of on their day I will also try and now bring in a quality experienced CM in as we struggling in the middle of the park for leadership i will go about it first thing in the morning'

Sinclair then walked out clearly still very angry with the performance shown Tonight

Atalanta's run is ended.

Atalanta had not lost a match until the Italian Cup game this evening against Napoli.

The match finished all square at 1:1 after 90 minutes, and it was the penalty shoot out that decided the match.

Manager, Terry Manifold, did not seem too upset by the result. I must admit I tried something a little different tonight and it didnt come off, Terry said, I did , however, want the likes of Fletcher, Heaton, Bennett & Williamson to get a competitive match under their belts.

Our main aim this year has always been promotion, and we can now concentrate on Torino at the weekend.

When I asked Terry if penalty taking would be on the sheet in the morning, he replied No, you win some you lose some, I still dont think spot kicking is the way to settle a match.
On Friday, he said, It won't be easy; there are no easy matches in this league, but, I will be looking for a little more belief when going forward."
With that the hat was pulled down over hie eyes and away he swept.
