Week 8

SSN; Good morning and welcome to SSN today we are at Fulhams training ground where we have managed to have a quick word with high flying Fulham manager Dave Davies-Evans!

SSN: good morning Dave, another fantastic victory again.

DDE. It was a great result and i am very proud of my players. They battled hard and never gave in. Who needs strikers when your defenders score 3. The lads have got the weekend off now and will be heading into there christmas party in second place in the leauge i think?.

SSN. You are working wonders here Dave you must be a genius.

DDE, i am, only jokeing. We have got everything right here off the feild we are in a great position on the pitch the players are performing amazing. I would like to thank Barcelona for there support in sending us players on loan. Kyle Naughton came in this week and scored on his debut. A big thanks goes to our chairman as well for his continued support and guidance.

SSN, You mentioned Kyle Naughton Dave you must well chuffed,

DDE, Very happy for the lad and also Ruben Gonzales who scored on his debut and to perna as well. I have worked with Perna for a few seasons now and although he is young he is going to be a star in the future. We had to change formation this week to accomodate a couple of players and im very happy with the players for the hard work they put in.

SSN. Many thanks Dave.

Cheers Guys

I managed to get hold of Atalanta manager Terry Manifold this morning for his views of the crucial match coming up this Friday.

Press. How do you think it will go this weekend?

T.M.  This weekend will be a real test and the outcome will be very important. for this club. There would appear to be 4 clubs in the fight at this stage and if we can take points off Roma this week, we will gain a psychological advantage over Chievo and Roma.

Press.  Wthout giving too much away how do you intend to contain Roma?

T.M.   We have a very good record this season with clean sheets; we have only conceded three goals in the league. We will be going to Roma for three points, and if we can keep our formation, we stand a real chance of containing them. Iain will have other ideas of course, but, I am very confident. Whilst we could do with scoring a few more goals and wrapping up matches a little earlier, the likes of Smith and Figueroa can be a handful.

On Friday it could be a contest between the players on loan at each Club. Roma have done well with the likes of Eduardo & Santos. Although they are only on short term loan at the moment.

Press.  I see you have another player in on loan.

T.M.   Yes Alex Compana has come in for a few weeks from West Brom. Hes a young lad with a lot of potential and Gatheth knows I will look after him whilst he is in my care. I am trying to go as easy as possible on some of my mature players by a certain amount of rotation. It is a long season and I want to be in there, and still fighting in ten weeks time.

Press.  If you did manage to get back into Serie A at the first attempt, could you survive?

T.M.   A difficult question. I would like to think so but, it would rather depend on what cash injection would be made if we did achieve promotion. It has not been easy to get this far, never mind contemplating life beyond this season. To have money to strengthen the side for that eventuality is only a dream. The reality is I am committed to the play offs and that is what I need to focus on.

Thank you for being interested, lets hope the interest continues beyond this Friday.

SSN caught up with Richard Jefferies to get his thoughts on the last couple of weeks.

SSN Are you pleased with the way things are going ?

RJ Well i am reasonably pleased but you can always be happier, i have brought in a couple of defenders to give us a bit more strength at the back, one young and one veteran.
We have been playing some lovely attacking football which has brought the fans flocking back in, but i am also conscious that we were letting in too many goals.

You got one player in the scouting window but missed out on a striker, What thoughts do you have on this ?

RJ Well i was pleased to bring in who i did and probably would have got another one had there not been some dodgy behaviour on Middlesboroughs part. But in saying that i have to say i think that the lad Schwenk is not quite the player we thought and i dont think he would ever have displaced any of the lads i already have here.So i'm not too upset really !

SSN So what are your targets ?

Well obviousley we are out of the cup so my hope is too push on to try and finish in the top 6, It will be very hard but I'm sure everyone can see we are getting stronger year after year.
