Well today sees you on the losing side, what happened?
TM.
What can I say, I am very disappointed and its my fault, I underestimated Empoli. They came out really wanting a result, and they have one. I put out a less defensive combination and Scott has made me pay for it. I went for the win and failed. The only good thing is my rearranged squad are starting to play together and it can only get better.
Press.
Where does that result leave you now?
TM.
Well fortunately the other results in this league went our way a little, and Palermos points in the top slot have stayed the same. It does mean however, that four teams are now in the hunt for the top and second spot. Iain at Roma is really doing well with a very small squad but special squad and I am hoping that in the final weeks, it will be a weaker squad. But, at the moment he is flying.

Any other player movements being proposed?
TM.
I have young Radovanovic going out to on loan to Ashley at Torino this week, the lad needs regular football in order to bring him on for next season.

Any news on future investment by the Chairman?
TM.
No, I dont think any money will be made available to me at all. I am very disappointed. I still think I can make the play-offs and win promotion this year. Next season however will be different. Without that investment, now, the future for the club is not looking good, and I have told the Chairman that. If I am to build on this year I will need financial support. I am not looking forward to another Atalanta relegation battle.
Napoli manager Andy Fletcher today praised his side after their 3-1 win away at Catania, Fletcher hailed this performance as the best since his tenure at the club.
It came together for us on the night, it was a 6 point battle for us at the bottom and we came out with flying colours.
Ryan Taylor secured a dream debut at Napoli after his recent transfer and scored the opener just before the break, a fantasctic move down the right after being set up by new scoring sensation Lavezzi, Taylor then had a hand in the next two goals and set both chances up for Lavezzi on 80 and 88 minutes.
Catania provided the obligatory scare as they brought the scoreline to 2-1 on 81 minutes but Napoli held out and finished the game off.
Debuts from Parlongo also provided muscle as Napoli managed 11 chances and 5 shots on goal during the match.
The game sets up the team for their next fiuxture at home to Atlanta and there is no doubt wonderkid Lavezzi will be looking to add to his 4 goals in 3 games tally.
Two big wins in a week Stuart you must be on top of the world? "Arsenal are one of the biggest teams in the world and are real challengers for trophies in England. To win in both competitions and win well is really pleasing. I think we have a good mix of flair players up front and tough tackling players in the middle and at the back. I was most pleased keeping Arsenal to just one goal in both games"
Can you go on and win the cup now you have got to the semis? "The whole city is buzzing about it. We have to wait for the draw but I think every body in Manchester is thinking about a Manchester derby for the final. Craig and his team could make a magic final but after Chelsea went out we can take no team for granted. We have to be in it to win it and we are playing some nice football right now. I targeted a cup run this season but some good league form might stretch our tiny squad very tight"
As a chairman what is your comment on your Napoli team? "I have been really impressed with Andy. He looked a nice solid and reliable manager at Sheffield and I was pleased to get him to move when I bought Napoli. I had a long plan and money went on a coach over playing staff in the first season but Andy understands what we want to do there and is right behind it. He knows he has atleast two seasons grace with no big targets for promotion. He has my full backing to get the club infrastructure in place for a big future and develop some home grown talent before we look at the next division. I was impressed he managed to sign Taylor last week from Inter Milan. Taylor played at Man C before he moved to Italy and I agree he will be a star for Andy now with Lavezzi to feed balls to"
Do you have any plans to enter the bidding for scouted players this week? "The market looks expensive. We have money but no squad so that is some thing I will need to work on. Danny has already reached a strange price and that leaves some of the other rich managers to pick over what is left. I might dip in to the bidding if it feels right close to Friday but with so many teams having so much money we are already looking for targets in the game already because I think their prices will be more realistic"

As always with our games, plenty of goals and plenty of drama. We showed so much character to keep going and it was a big win for us and its a result we can build on.
So your season target must now be second? While youre out of all cups.
For now we chase down Fiorentina in second but our main objective is to try and win every game and see where that takes us.People forget we are also still in the quarter finals of the European cup and that is not something to be sniffed at.
A disappointing season overall though?
Well football is a funny game and who is to know how the rest of the season will pan out but I think we should have more points in the league and being out the Italian cup was a big blow.Next season will be a very big season for my time at Milan, I fully believe we will bring silverware to San Siro next season and I dont just mean a cup, we have big plans and the club is really going in the right direction now.If we dont win anything this season or next then I would have to admit defeat and allow someone else the chance to move this club forward.
Rumours suggest you have signed Danny from Zenit St. Petersburg?
I can confirm we have agreed a fee with Zenit St Petersburg and he will sign for Milan on Friday and be available for selection the following week.
You have previously said you were looking for a certain type of central Midfielder with the x-factor so you now believe you have that player in Danny?
I really do yes; I wanted a player who could bring goals from midfield and with Iniesta and Aqualini just behind him I think we have one of the strongest midfields in club football now along with Ribery and Niang out wide we have a lot of quality. It was important we got a central player with an eye for goal and someone who is at a very good age who will only get better.
Many have suggested you have over paid for Danny, how do you react to such comments?
Maybe we could have waited and got him a little cheaper but we would have then been battling it out with a few other managers. We are in a position where we had money to spend and I am delighted with the signing of Danny. No one of Dannys quality and age is available at the moment so its a price we had to pay.The money spend was from the sale of fringe players so its just a case of moving players around to serve a purpose and to make us stronger which we will be.
Do you expect further transfer this season?
Yes I do, we still have some players who are not needed and a bit of money to spend, I would ideally like to see 3 players come in and two to go leave but we will see on that.We have made a good offer for a striker which is being considered so we will see.

Sky Italia caught up with a rather bubbly looking Ray Farnell at the Stadio Chievo.
Ray is been a while? La finale lay off credo, and your nuts if you think you will get any further italian out of me.
SO!, the season so far? Chievo are looking in good shape, how do you feel the season has gone? So far so good, we are on course to set out what we wanted to achieve but I have to admit that automatic promotion spot has crossed my mind!
Are you suprised to be in the hunt for automatic promotion? Yes, a little if I am honest however....... with the right people being available at the right time we have managed the squad accordingly. We find ourselves sitting in a very satisfactory position. The Real Valladolid boys have done well with us as always and Simon and I are always discussing what we can and cant do to help his talent and us.
I have to admit I thought the automatic promotion of Palmero and Roma would be foregone conclusion.
That leads us nicely on to this weeks game against Roma, how do you think it will go? HA! lets be honest, any kind of result will be a bonus! Iain's back four and midfield are the best in the divison but......
Go on? Our new signing Mutu will start the game. If anybody can upset the odds for this game it is him. Adrian knows a lot will be riding on his shoulders for the rest of this campaign and I am looking for him and Digeo Forlan to guide the young Vallodolid talent Gonzalez who has always prospered in this league.
Ray, always a pleasure, invite us back soon? Now lets not be hasty!
Soccer Star spoke exclusively to Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood days after his chairman publicly offered his resignation to the board of directors following a run of poor results. This week alone has seen Manchester City rub salt into the already fresh wounds of the Gunners inflicting two defeats in quick succession in both league and Cup Quarter Final.
"Obviously these are tough times. I think everyone was looking forward to this season. Simon Newcombe finished on a high after a long time in charge by delivering a famous English Cup win. I think everyone knew his tenure had come to an end by then and we were looking to Jamie Best to take us on to the next stage. Some fans have questioned some of his transfers while others have praised them and I think there lies the problem. Jamie, like Simon, is splitting the supporters and it puts the whole club on edge not really knowing which side of the fence we'll all fall."
Hill-Wood dismissed speculation of a Simon Newcombe return to replace Best, despite a 9 point gap between Arsenal and 3rd placed Manchester United.
"The points gap his huge. Manchester United just won't drop 9 points so we can say goodbye to the top 3 places now. I do believe this is why Jamie has offered his resignation because finishing out of the top three is an obvious negative on the season in a big way. Simon had his time here, and he may return in the future but I can't see him being the next Arsenal manager whether Jamie leaves tomorrow or in 5 years time. Simon needs to grow as a manager and the club needs time to venture in a new direction and fully explore other alternatives before it goes back on itself. I still feel we made the right decision parting company with Simon Newcombe."
On whether Arsenal's board of directors will be accepting the offer of resignation or not, Hill-Wood was very non committal but hinted at events unfolding in the near future.
"In the next 6 games we could realistically win 6. We play Boro, Spurs, West Ham, West Brom, Watford and Newcastle. Other than Watford the rest all sit below us in the league. If Jamie got 6 wins under his belt the situation could be looking a lot more different. I think the next 6 games will define Jamie Best's future at the club."
So it seems the man who is once again splitting the Gunners ranks has time to recover his faultering time at Arsenal. Not long ago Simon Newcombe was handed a similar get out of jail card and delivered wins in all bar one match against Chelsea in a dramatic run it that saved his job that season. Some sections of the Arsenal faithful are doubting whether lightning can strike twice.
So JOP, you've made quite a few signings that have seemed to make an impact for you?
"Where to start aye! We've had a few new signings recently, and if I say so myself they were very decent signings...
Van der Vaart (from Roma) - What was Iain thinking? He is one of the best midfielders in the league! 2 goals 5 assists in 15 games (I think most were in the last few games) Rubiato (from Cadiz) - And to think I nearly sold him to Real Madrid - What was I thinking! 6 goals 5 assists in 15 games
Chris Brunt (Ascoli I think) - offers alot to the team and has showed that with his contribution of late. 6 goals 2 assists in 13 games
We have also had the likes of Baggio, Sastre and Reid come in who are going to play big parts inend of season run in.
Players arriving this week are young and very talented striker Ribas from Inter and also centre back Fautario who will be great cover, i'm hoping these will go on loan for experience."
Where do you think you will finish this year?
"Playoffs, we are on a great run and I hope this will continue, we are currently free scoring but need to tighten up our defending. I would have liked an automatic place but it took time to bring in the right players. Lets cement a place in the playoffs and see what happens."
