Week 18

Atalanta Team News.

It has been reported that Atalantas manager, Terry Manifold, wasnt very happy following the poor display against Siena today. The players were held in the dressing room for a hour after the final whistle as the manager talked through how he thought the current problems could be overcome. The reliable source said it wasnt a pleasant exchange.

Atalantas results have been poor recently after a very good start to the season. Time is running out for a real shot at automatic promotion.

Atalanta play Torino away next week and unless he can lift the team, promotion will be fought out in the play-offs and it is not what the Club wanted. Terry has made it very plain that investment in players was an issue, but with some of his most recent acquisitions the fans did think the squad was good enough to see this years target, achieved.

We tried to get an interview with the Chairman & the manager but both were not available to comment.

Battle for Arsenal continues

The English media have continued to beat the drum for Jamie Best against Mark Galeozzi in the battle for the Arsenal manager position. The Real Mallorca boss has openly admitted his interest in the position and Jamie Best is under close scrutiny following a poor season of yet more inability to compete for trophies. For the second week running, Real Mallorca have produced another fine performance to underpin Galeozzi's credentials drawin 2-2 with 2nd placed Sevilla. Arsenal scraped a narrow victory against lower opposition for the second week running.

Despite this, Best has managed 6 points from 6 after the Arsenal chairman gave him 6 matches to show he had the ability to retain his position at the head of the team. Fans and media pundits alike are looking forward to the next instalment of Galeozzi vs Best.

Ruggeri speaks out

Atalanta chairman Ivan Ruggeri has finally spoken out after his managers latest comments to the press. The outspoken Terry Manifold has continuously questioned the clubs ambition through lack of investment and it appears his comments have begun to alienate the chairman.

"Terry was doing a great job at the start of the season. We have a strong team worthy of promotion if not of survival in Serie A just yet. As soon as the manager started to talk of investments to help him keep the club up the players have turned off. They all thought they were promoted and now we sit 4th and 8 points from 2nd. Terry and the players should concentrate on the league they are in instead of a league they are throwing away the chance of reaching."

Fans have also questioned the signing of Sawyer from Chelsea this week for a few believed to be around £2 million. The head of the Atalanta fan group commented that Sawyer wasn't of the quality needed in the squad and that if this was the sort of player the manager wanted, maybe it was wise the chairman refusing the invest funds.

Rooney spoils Barce-day

Wayne Rooney's 90th minute strike spoilt what could have been a title winning performance from Barcelona this weekend. Barcelona looked surprisingly solid in what many consider to be a wide open and attacking oriented league but a very professional performance had the league leaders winning 1-0 with a minute remaining. However the late goal has now made some people begin to question whether Barcelona have the winning mentality to finish the job and seal the championship. And impressive performance by Atletico Madrid winning 5-1, and a narrow but important win for Real Valladolid over fellow chasers Espanyol, has moved a number of teams into close proximity of the title race. This was helped with second placed Sevilla being held 2-2 by Real Mallorca this week. Just 10 points now cover the top 7 teams in La Liga heading into a dramatic run in.

Reggina confident of playoff place.

"We are on a great run at the moment and believe we can continue our run, the players are really giving their all. As you probably noticed I rotated the team this week and the reason for this was we were playing a (with all due respect) **** team. As you can see from the game stats, they did not get a shot away, that is a credit to our CB's and CM's. I was very impressed by our new youngsters Ribas and Fautario, with a goal and assist respectively."

What do you think of the Atalanta's managers comments?

"Well I have been in his position before with Sunderland, sitting in a nice playoff place with a great squad and then lose the dressing room, he said himself he held them in the dressing room for an hour, to me that sounds like he has lost their respect. On a positive note I think they will finish in the playoff's and Terry will gain control again - he is a good guy"

Atalanta News

It has been reported that Atalanta's manager Terry Manifold is looking to have a "clear the air" meeting with the Chairman Ivan Ruggeri, as soon as posible, in order to ease the tension at the Club. The manager feels that the press have made more of the situation than there is by the alarmist reporting.
"Atalanta is still in with a very good chance of promotion and we just need to concentrate on a few areas where we are currently not performing well," Terry said,"As far as my transfer dealings go, I just ask for the fans to be patient."

Reggina manager rules out a move to Genoa and talks about possible candidates.

I wouldn't be interested in a position like that, there is too much pressure with little reward. I love Reggina, I love the fans, the chairman is a great friend as well as a boss, and the team give 100% every week what more can I ask?

If Genoa were to appoint someone new then I would definitely stay away from Steve Davies-Evans, after that £30m waste at Sheff Weds god knows what he would do with £50m!

Dale Price has done well since taking my old post at Sunderland, but I was responsible for bringing in the good players there, apart from one where he has landed on his feet really with Waghorn. So giving Pricey £50M would be interesting to say the least, he can certainly get his team playing but can he get good deals. He will probably use most of the money on his wedding!

Gareth Gardner, I'm not sure he can cut it to be honest he is trying hard at Inter but not sure if his attitude is right, maybe league one was the place for him, Leicester maybe?

Dave Davies-Evans, Paul Harrington or Luke Coakley would all do a great job at Genoa, they are great managers. Out of them all I would go for Dave he is good with money and needs a good challenge like this. Paul gets bored to early and Luke changes his squad too much.

Gardner rules out any move from Genoa !

Gareth Gardner was quick to respond to any link with him and Genoa stating

" I would like to officially state that i am not interested in any move to Genoa. I have been an Inter Milan fan since watching Paul Ince play in the San Ciro against Gazza(Lazio) in the early 90s and theres no way i would leave such a club like Inter to go to a small club like Genoa even if they do have a sugar daddy Chairman. Im extremely happy at Inter Milan and am building a side for the future. Im sure the fans will be very pleased with signings such as Gargano,German and Cisse and will be very happy Fabien Delph and Alberto Paloshci are getting games behind them at Charlton. I like to run my club financially correctly and have a great relationship with our current chairman Massimo Moratti.
As for Mr Pettys comments then i think he should just concentrate on his own club and stop being so jealous. I started at the bottom with little old Leeds and have built up a reputation of having experiance in all the top 3 leagues in the game and find myself at a massive Serie A club. Where is he now ? Any reputation he had, he lost at Sunderland. He clearly stated Leicester purely because they are probably bigger than Reggina ! Its a shame loan players cannot be recalled as Antonio Guayre now has to play under a manager with very poor leadership skills. Im hope Reggina come up just for the easy 6 points next season but im not holding my breath as theres far better managers currently in Serie B.
If Genoa are after a top manager and want their money spent correctly, id have to say Mark Galleozzie is the man for them. Iv been very impressed in the work he has put in at Mallorca and Genoa shouls look no further than him aslong as he is interested.
This week sees me up against probably the best manager in the game and somebody who i would like to follow in his footsteps. Juventus are a massive club due to the job Steve Jenkins has done there and they look all set for a very bright future. I hope 1 day i can emulate him and bring the glory days back to Inter Milan and wish him luck in the game this weekend."

PRICE DOESNT UNDERSTAND PETTY PETTY

Sunderland manager Dale Price was stunned when Reggina and former Sunderland manager Jonathan Petty and made comment that he brought all the players to the club and Mr Price wanted to take this time to show how silly Mr Pettys comments were Dale had this to say I dont even know why Im responding to him no one in Sunderland likes him after he ruined this club the best thing he ever did for the team was to quit when he realised that he wasnt man enough to take the Cats up Mr Price later spoke about the comments that he hasnt got any of the good players in to the squad these are the players that are left over from Jonathans run as manager GK Simone Aresti Played 10 RB Melli P4 CB Tomas Zapotocny P 15 G3 A3 (retiring this season) LB Michele Rinaldi P4 cm Davide Moro P1 Bobby Zamora P15 G9 A4 and ST Henri Shiba P1 A1 so not really first team players apart from two the players I have brought to the club are GK Chris Kirkland (on loan) CB Matthew Briggs P13 CB Matthew Bates (on loan) P4 in 4 CM Cicero (on loan) P2 A1 RM Marcos Sebastian Aguirre (good back up player and I am happy to play him) RM Karim Ziani P15 G1 A2 CM Henri Lansbury (loan) P 16 G3 A3 LM Christian Wilhelmsson P14 G2 A3 LM Marek Hamsik (good back up player and I am happy to play him) ST Martyn Waghorn P18 G8 A9 and Iain Hume P16 G14 A10 so if you compare the two lost of stats there you can clearly se that I have put a team together to take the club where it needs and should be after the shambles that Mr Petty left me Asked why he thought Jonathan Came out with the kind of comments he did Mr Price had this to say I think he is feeling the pressure of another failed season as I said earlier I dont think he is man enough to take any club to that next level but I will say good luck thats good luck to Reggina that they will be able to pick the pieces up after Mr Petty runs off again after failing to complete a job again

PETTY LAUGHS AT PRICE

I don't want to stoop to his level of I brought him in, she made the first move, my dad is bigger than your dad etc.. but he forgot to mention Nunez in that one giant sentence.

On a positive note for Dale he has done well in the loan market, but I feel for the players he is leaving out. The likes of Aresti and Nunez need games but he's not playing them, I am still really good mates with a lot of the players and they keep telling me how frustrated they are. They are annoyed that when the loan players go then Pricey will want their services but at the moment couldn't give a monkey's about them!

I can't believe Pricey claimed that he brought Waghorn in, he was in the youth when I was their but my youth manager said give another season and he'll be ready, so Dale well done with him, you done well to find him...

I still got some great friends at Sunderland including Nial so I hope they do well, good luck boys.

PETTY RESPONDS TO GARDNER

R.E.S.P.E.C.T that is not what you mean to me....

What respect who respects him as a manager? Everyone was shocked when Inter appointed him, if I remember rightly he went to West Brom and continued what Paul H had set up (A fantastic base and squad), a bit like Dale at Sunderland, I did all the dog work and he swans in and takes the credit. Hope your proud of yourselves...your great managers wink.gif

Gardner gutted to Pettys treatment of Guayre.

" Today im absolutely gutted of hearing of my player Antonio Guayres treament at Reggina. Due to Pettys astonishing attack on myself and a few other respected managers in the media, he had only gone and tried to drop Antonio from training this morning.

I had a phone call at roughly 1:45 pm this afternoon with an official quote from Antonio. He said" -

" Boss, i cannot believe what has happened at the training ground this morning. Mr Petty left me out of a training ground routine. What he did was he placed eleven dustbins in formation on the pitch and had his team to practice dribbling around them and passing between them before shooting for goal.
After just one session he had to abandon this method of training for reasons of team morale: the dustbins won 6-0 ! i now have been recalled to show them how to do it"

I had to reply to Antonio saying" unfortunately you are now stuck with the fool untill the end of the season, but dont worry. You will soon be back with a tidy training regime, coaches and players and im sorry you have to carry on there"

Regginas relationship with Inter seems to be hitting the rocks as of late !

PETTY TELLS THE TRUTH ABOUT GARDNER

I can see why Gareth would stir this kind of drizzle, he has a lot to hide. I have spoken to Guayre regarding this matter and he wanted me to spill the truth, I asked him to hold back as this could damage Gardners so called reputation and respect from other people within the game but he just wants the truth out there, so here it goes.

A couple of weeks back Guayre and Ribas were playing an away match and Gardner was unable to attend due to "Flu", but the boys later found out that Gardner was actually at Guayre's house when he got back. He thought Gardner was just visiting being a good manager but when he seen Gardner's trouser belt on the floor he started to ask questions, this led to the truth being told that Gardner had been having an affair with Guayre's wife, who is actually Ribas mother.

This is the reason Gardner was eager to sell Ribas and loan out Guayre as it was affecting team morale.

That's all I have to say on this matter.

I know we want to make this game realistic but it has been taken to a whole new level now.

Additionally, I would just like to point out that all of my players are as good as gold. All of the Chelsea romeos of old are at pastures new so there is no chance of controversy at Stamford Bridge these days wink

Galeozzie to remain at Mallorca
The rumour mill in Spain has been doing overtime recently with rumours that rising managerial star Mark Galeozzie is set to leave Mallorca. It is believed in recent months he has been approached by Portsmouth, West Bromwich Albion and Inter Milan.  The media shy manager and former Danny DeVito body double, took take time out from his busy schedule to release a short statement regarding recent reports in the press that the manager was about to leave Mallorca to take over as manager at Sevilla:
I can confirm that no official approach has been madeby Sevilla or any other club since I turned down the opportunity to manage Inter Milan a short time agoIt has been well reported that earlier in the season I made an unsuccessful application for the Real Madrid job, however I would like to make it clear that I am very happy here at Mallorca and that on reflection managing another Spanish club at this stage of my career is something I would no longer consider.  I have no further comments to make regarding this or any of the other recent reports regarding my future and I would just to like to concentrate on the remainder of the season
High profile narcoleptic then thanked the press for there time and asked if someone could turn off the lights on the way out.
