Following the disappointment at not gaining promotion this season the latest from Atalantas ground is that the manager, Terry Manifold, is to offer his resignation in the morning.
Terry told us that he had not only failed to reach the Club target of top two this year, but had also failed in the play offs. I think it is only fair to offer to stand down, said Terry, I have really enjoyed it here in Italy but I am willing to stand aside and let the Chairman bring in another manager. I would love to stay and finish the job I started last year, but that is out of my hands. With that the manager left the Club probably for the last time.

Jonny Sinclair admitted it was nice to relax at the end of the season and not worry about the play-offs for a change the Italian play-off expert with 2 play-off wins and another play-off final to his name went to the Reggina, Atlanta game and thought it was very close game 'To be honest Serie B this season is better in recent seasons it had 5 very good teams who could easily be capable of playing in Serie A and Siena keep punching above their weight with another play-off and they pushed Chievo as hard as they did when I was at Ascoli. Its sad to hear that Terry Manifold is to offer his resignation I think he has done a decent job the problem is this season was tougher than most in Serie B Reggina are a very capable side now thanks to Jop he's built a strong capable side their now it was a close game and either team could have won it sadly Terry was on the wrong end of the scoreline and If anyone does need a bit of luck It's Terry after all the agro he had from Fulham's situation I hope he can get another job soon really crack with whatever team he decides to join. As for i think will win and who I want to win the play-off final I have to say it has to Raymond's Chievo he's got them to the play-off final twice and lost both times last time to my Ascoli team and we had some good banter before and after the game and he admitted he thought he team wasn't ready and that i had a better squad and the game seemed to prove that but i think Ray has built a very good squad and i think they could turn some heads and surprise a few people If they do go up but of course It'll be difficult reggina aren't going to easy Chievo will have to play at their best to come away with a win. However I think they will finally win the playoff final but good luck to both teams'

"If he does leave Atalanta I just hope he stays in the game, he is one of the friendliest managers to deal with and can build a great team. Fortunately for me my squad came back from two nil and I must admit, I thought it was all over, luckily for me my players didn't and to be fair they have been like that all season!"
"The final will be very tough but it is a one of game and will be a fantastic game for the neutral"
' I was shocked to see he has left Atalanta this morning, I thought he has done a brilliant job there whether or not he has reached his target, If he feels hes been unsuccessful in every aspect then its his decision but he is a great man, great ambassador for Italian football, I just hope another club comes in and he decides to stay, otherwise he will be a MAJOR loss to the soccer world ' !
Sevilla manager Liam Riste made a suprise statement from Spain to Sky Sports News today regarding Terry Manifold's future in Italian football.
"Terry has been backed by many managers to stay in the footballing world after his unsuccessful bid for promotion via the Play-off's. Although the current support for Terry seem to have forgotten that he has only offered his resignation to the board and chairman; they haven't as of yet relieved him of his duties as Atalanta manager! I believe he has done the right thing in offering his job elsewhere but also believe the club should be proud of this action of loyalty to the club and decline the offer immediately."
The serie B Club whom finished 11th in the table have a much better of team than of that before Ashley joined. The young manager took over Torino just over a season ago after an unsuccessful time at Cadiz. He has recentley been linked with Charlton of Englands league 1, The proposed take over by Gareth Gardner is set to happen very soon.
Davies has been badly handicapped in his time in charge at Torino Football club by their financial problems Disastrous attendance figures , on the back of failures at Cadiz, followed by administration while in Spain and no financial backing what so ever things are starting to look up for him. Since taking over Torino he lost many of games which shouldn't have happened, each game had missed opportunities which led to losses of 1-0 throughout the campaign. But due to the tight budget, a youth product brought in much needed cash and it was spent very wisely. The transfer brought in a few loans and great palyers, one of them being Dean Whitehead who was voted player of the season. After the effort that was put in Ashley Davies has felt he is leaving them on a happy note and leaves the club waiting for the right person to take them up, He feels that the team can challenge for the play offs and wishes the club all the best and thanks Urbano Cairo for having faith in him!
"So Mr. Jenkins, how do you think the season has gone?"
"When I first joined Valladolid five seasons ago, I said I would be challenging the top three in my fifth season. I have achieved that personal goal despite certain people saying I would not be at this stage until my sixth season. Last season I finished fourth with 30 points, this season I finished fourth 42 points. It was much closer this season and hopefully it was a transition season where the big three are brought down to the level of the chasing pack... or are the chasing pack rising to the level of the big three?"
"What was your opinion of the last week of games? Your prediction could not have been worse if you tried?!"
"Yeah, cheers for reminding me. Congratulations to Adam, but let's be honest, I had nothing to play for so I was never going to really go for it and risk the start of the next season. I do feel a bit guilty because I could have gotten a result against Barcelona and that would have meant Chris would have won the title, but he was understanding about it and at the end of the day I had to do what was best for my team. Besides, third wouldn't have made any difference to me, I'd have got no more money, and I am already in Europe; yeah that's right Goble, I got Europe through the cup. Forgot about that didn't you? Hahahahahahahah."
"...so anyway, plans for next season?"
"I should have a fair amount of money coming in from my stadium, cup win and success in the betting department this year so I suppose my plan is to just keep on improving. There's no doubt that most of my players will be improving considering the majority of them are very young, have decent talent and are played very well this season. I'm pleased with the way things are going."
"Another good season for Karim Benzema? He's a right cracker!"
"Yes he is. For the third season running he's one of the highest goal scorers in the league and his assist rate is up there with the best of them too. The only thing holding him back from winning the golden boot is the goal-scoring ability of the rest of the team Looking at the goal and assist stats, Valladolid have eight double figures in goals or assists, that's more than anyone else in the league, with Madrid and Sevilla just behind on seven each and then an even bigger gap behind them. Valladolid have 20 goals just in their defensive line, it's no wonder Benzema hasn't got the golden boot, everyone's scoring given half a chance!"
MR Harrington, we heard the rumours that Genoa had offered you the Managerial role, what were your reasons for rejecting?
I would love to manage in Italy later in my career, but Genoa isnt the right club for me and now isnt the right time. I dont feel i can fufill mu duties as a manager when i have limited input into the players brought to the club, and the high pressure that comes with it is not something i wanted to put myself through at this moment in time. I have today signed a 1 year extentsion with Atletico and we look forward to next season.
Atletico have improved greatly this season, cutting the gap to the top 4 to one point from twelve the previous season, what can we expect next year?
we have a bit of money coming in from various sources, and we might look at selling one of two players to raise some more, i dont know if the chairman will dip into his funds, but if he does or doesnt, i think we can expect some activity in the transfer market. My and my coaching team have a few players in key positions that we are keeping an eye on, and we look to move ASAP now.
You have had a few youngsters plying their trade on loan this season, none more impressive than 16 year old Kenan Kodro at sociadad, can we expect these players to step up next season?
Kodro has a massive future in football there is no doubt about that, the kid got 21 goals this season in 23 games, as well as 11 assists, at the age of 16 thats just incredible, but we dont think he's ready for top flight football just yet, so will be looking to loan him out. Gallardo is another who has done a great job at atlanta, we need confirmation but we think we have a club lined up for him next season, and Kevin Smith, who also have a fantastic season at Atlanta, were not too sure about. We may be open to offers for him.
It usually takes a few weeks for the dust to settle in the leagues, but how do you see La Liga shaping up next year?
I can only see Valladolid and Barcelona challenging for the title next year. Though a lot will depend on weather on not Sevilla and Real Madrid get any money, both sides have cause for concern as key players head the wrong side of 30, but im sure both Chris and Liam are working on that. As far as the rest of the league goes, i dont see a threat coming from Espanyol, any decent manager who goes there would need a season to set his stall out i feel, and Valencia have a lot of work to do to get back to where they were. And lastly, i feel we have a great chance of breaking the top 4!

Lazio manager reflects on a good pre season and hopes for a positive era ahead: Ascoli 1- 4 Lazio
Steve Davies-Evans: "I was happy with the way the boys passed the ball today. We managed to get behind Ascoli and once we do that, we are always dangerous. I needed to look at a few players tonight ready for the new season and I was happy with what I saw.
When asked about his reaction to Paul Harringtons decision to decline an offer from Genoa, Davies-Evans spoke highly of the Athletico manager:
"It's a shame for Italian football that Paul won't be in Serie A next season. Genoa very almost got themselves a great manager there. I understand Pauls decisions and I'm sure that he will be proved right."
Davies-Evans spoke of growing rumours that striker Leroy Lita will be leaving the Stadio Olympico in the near future.
"Leroy has stated that he would like to stay here and we would like him to remain a Lazio player. I do have to conceed that every player has their price in modern day football and if someone came along and the terms were right for both sides then we may have to look at the position again. For now though, Leroy is firmly a Lazio player and despite a few offers, we are looking forward to him starting the new season with us."

It was announced today that the forthcoming FAFF Award Ceremony will be a live affair after the rights were bought by the FA Messageboard Association. The ceremony will be begin at 5:00pm on Monday 12th April and will be held in the Beat The Odds & FAFF forum.
This is the rumour doing the rounds and spreading like wildfire this evening that a large club in the English leagues is about to enter administration. Reports in previous weeks suggested Manchester United were going under with the owner willing to walk away but talk had subsided until tonight. Fresh reports from an unnamed source within the FA headquarters have told of crippling player wages as well as a breach in FA rules which has resulted in a club fine, culminating in a substantial end of season deficit, enough to put the club beyond the £2 million debt margin needed to enter administration.
The unnamed source admitted the club probably wouldn't have sacked the manager for the oversight in the FA rule break but this added financial misery could well cost him his job before the start of the new season.
The rumours that a big Premier League Club are about to go into administration have been confirmed today after an interview with new Genoa manager Jamie Best.
Jamie, it's a bolt out of the blue this story can you shed some more light on it?
Unfortunately i can confirm that Arsenal will enter administration this week. I was notified this morning that the club had breached a rule which only allows 22 players in a squad whereas we had 23. This meant that the club incurred a fine which unbeknown to me sent the club into administration.
Can you go into more detail?
Well, we currently have 18 players in our squad, with 1 loanee. We have 6 players out on loan and once all the players have returned to the parent club it puts us over the maximum by one player. The oversight was my mistake, i knew Lamps (Frank Lampard) was retiring and so didnt count him when i accounted for the players in my squad. It was a stupid error to make but unfortunately it has cost me and the club dear.
I have tried to rectify the situiation by offering all of my finances available incuding the wages given to me by Arsenal but was told it was too late. The club had made a loss due to the poor attendance and the high wage bill, and this fine has unfortunately has tipped us over the edge. I am gutted.
So you said you are the new manager of Genoa, how did that come about?
Upon notification this morning that Arsenal were going into administration i investigated the specifics of it all and was told flatly there was nothing i could do, a new chairman was to be appointed and the players sold to clear the debt that the current chairman departing would create. It was pretty obvious to me that i wouldn't be welcomed with open arms by the new chairman. I had a job offer from Genoa on the table of which i accepted, but i want the Arsenal fans to know that in no way did i jump ship, i did everything possible to try and prevent Arsenal going into administration but it wasnt enough, and at the end of the day it was my mistake that cost the club so the chairman and fans have my unreserved apology.
It's an astonishing headline it must have been a tough day for you?
Leaving Arsenal is the hardest decision i have had to make in my managerial career, and knowing that it was because of my error makes it even harder to take. I thought about walking away altogether from management but i decided to try and focus on the job in hand at Genoa and see if i can get my managerial career back on track.
Once again, i'm sorry to the chairman and all the fans.

Genoa - Season 7 Arsenal - Season 6 Inter Milan - Seasons 4-5 Wolves - Seasons 1-3
A press conference was called tonight at the Nuevo Colombino so that Recreativo Huelva can name former Sunderland manager Dale Price as their new manager. This move has shocked people as the board have already said that they were not looking to appoint a manager. The chairman started things off by saying, It is my absolute pleasure to announce Mr Price as our new manager tonight. We feel that we have the best man to not only cement our place but to turn us into a La Liga regular.
The press asked the first question of the night to Mr. Price and asked him why he wanted to leave Sunderland. He replied, Well first of all hello! The reason I wanted to make the move is that I felt the job offer was too good to turn down. Mr Price was then asked why he wanted to have another go in Spain after the disaster that was his run as Real Betis manager. Thats just the point, I feel I have something to prove here to you the Spanish press and the watching public. I started showing what I could do at Murcia but left before I could really take them places.
Asked about how he feels the team looks and if he would like to strengthen Mr Price had this to say, I am already in talks with my former team Sunderland about bringing in a player from there. I feel we have a very good side here, a side that I feel could stay in this league and maybe have a good crack at the cup like they did a few seasons ago. After saying this the gatheredElDecano fans started singing Prices name. One fan had this to say on the way out of the conference, This could take our club to the next level. I wouldnt have wanted anyone else better in charge here thank you Mr Kellner for appointing Mr Price.

Breaking News........Fabregas To Sign for Real Madrid!
Real Madrid fans forums have been going mad over the news that Arsenal star Cesc Faregas might be returning to Spain with the Madrid giants, its understood a fee of around 25million has been accepted by the Gunners and Cesc has already been in talks with manager Chris Hanton about team plans for the season.

"with the news that our Madrid rivals have completed the signing of Fabregas, it is important that we move forward ourselves with regards to bringing players in. with this in mind i have asked the Chairman for some additional funds to help aid our push for the top 3. should any money become available, then great. if not then we will have to look at other avenues.
I have identified two major areas that need improving in the squad and am very close to agree a deal for one of them, which would see another world class player join our ranks. Hopefully, our chairmans ambition matches mine and we can bring him in. The chairman has been generous since i have been at the club but the aim now is to push on and become one of the best teams in the league. with both Barcelona and Madrid have millions of money at thier disposal, i feel we need something at this club to keep us competitive"
