Season 7 work

Work is happening for season 7 although no massive changes are planned, here is what is being worked on/considered for you to discuss during the last few days of the season, and the update weekend.

First of all, the team sheet page will be shrunk hopefully. A few people have commented on this and each season I've tried to bring down the size of it, so hopefully again it will become smaller. Also, will have a slightly different look, which may help make it easier to view compared to the background colouring.

Looking at expanding the tactical side a little. Nothing huge, but a couple of extra options for managers to get a little bit more into their team and the way they want them to play, but with options just to leave it as standard if you so wish. These aren't guarenteed although the first is pretty much uploaded to the engine for next season already:

Philosophy
     - Rigid
     - Balanced
     - Fluid

Marking
     - Zonal
     - Default
     - Man Marking

Pressure
     - High Pressure: All over pitch
     - Medium Pressure: Own half
     - Low Pressure: Own area

Something which had been discussed is an extra scouting area which everyone can bid in, that includes spare English based players who aren't already in the game. This is something very likely to come in, although the only point for debate there is whether ALL clubs will be able to bid, or just all teams playing outside the top flights - to avoid the big clubs picking up squad players on the cheap as this wouldn't much benefit the small clubs.

Another thing previously discussed, is the club facilities such as club shop. Obviously only 1 team has bought an upgrade who will benefit this season, but it was suggested to give people the full option at the start of the season along with stadium expansion - rather than to have them as random bidding wars on the message board. This will hopefully change for the start of next season, giving you a bigger form to apply for stadium expansions and large club shops etc.

And finally, someone has offered the idea of a new side game next season. Are people interested in a prediction league? Similar to betting, but without the money and odds, and instead you simply guess the score lines of selected games each week and get points for right result, or exact score etc?

Any comments, declarations of interest, or anything else, please stick here as you lot can debate stuff while I'm updating this weekend, and I will also make regular checks back here to see what people think.

Richard.

firstly i like the idea of a prediction league, and the high scoring games that happen would make it difficult to predict which is good.

a point on the extra scouting window though, you could have 10,12, 15 or more players of various abilities available, and only make them available to the lower league teams for, say weeks 5-6, then anyone who doesnt get bought can be bought by top league teams only in week 7 (same week as other scouting finishes) this way, everyone gets a chance, and as there arent too many lower league clubs with money, theres a good chance some of the top players will filter through to the top sides?

also, its great that your doing a lot of work to improve the game, but i do worry that some of it is too much. the "be a chairman" thing is one point, i dont know what ill spend my wages on but i wont be buying a club, and i wouldnt want to manage one that was onwed by someone on this game. and the same goes with the tactics, while its good to have new features i wonder if its nessassery, and will it hinder the people who enjoy playing the game, but dont pay too much attention to the tactical side of things?

sorry for waffling lol

The scouting thing is good but if there was anyone good then surely a top club could just get a smaller club to buy the player for them, so those with money will still be picking people up. By taking out the top clubs there leaves no competition for the better players so the club with the most money will just get players cheaper than normal if you follow my drift?

I agree with Paul on the tactics side of it, I'm not sure how much I like the Philosophy, Marking and Pressure things.

As for manager wages, which PC football management game was it where you could buy a dog? lol

ok maybe open the scouting to everyone, but include enough players to accomodate every team?

If top clubs are involved in scouting then they will pick up the best players, maybe have a hidden amount so that players do not know what somebody else has bid. That would make it more realistic (not sure how easy to do that would be tho)

I like the marking and pressure tactics, not sure about the philosophy one tho.

I also like the idea of a prediction league.

For anybody who plays Football Manager PC games, you have similar tactical options there on the sliding scales. For the people who pay little attention to tactics, they will be able to pick default stuff ie. picking Balanced Philosophy and Default Marking. The more extreme options are there for people who want to get analytical and think they see ways of getting the very most out of the players they're picking.

I think its going 1 step to far on the tactics Rich. It looks like most agree on this that it should be left alone.

Prediction league aint for me either. I dont mind it on real life games but not on this game.

Scouting window sounds a good idea

Club shop will be a little unfair on me if your going to offer them cheaper than what i bought it for, lol. Id prefer they get auctioned on the board

I completely disagree...Why not make things more about tactics if it doesn't take too much of rich's time.

The more autonomy the better as far as I am concerned.

The tactics stuff will add zero extra runtime for me, and people can leave the extras on default settings if they wish, so I'm not sure why there'd be a problem with them.

Change

Prediction league will be a side game and is optional, so again if you're not interested thats ok, but we're looking for numbers to see if there's enough interested to run it.

As for the club shop GG, you're the only one who benefits this season from a bigger club shop, you've already got a seasons advantage over everyone else, and they're likely to be same/similar price for everyone next season to what you paid.

I like the tactcis idea but I dont particpate in the scouting, probably along with 75% of the game members due to lack of funds. So quite honestly not interested in that section

I am 100 percent behind new ideas as long as its not to much trouble on you Rich. The more you take on, the more you may come frustrated with it. Its working fine at the mo so leave it as it is. Only my view.

Rich,
Don't make it too involved.

The only thing I would be interested in would be the choice of a change of tactics at half time.  If losing you could get push forward more through attacking and if in front at half time it is sometimes an advantage to get a little more defensive to hang on.
