Five-star Foxes dish out Royal thrashing

A rampant Leicester City put on their best display of the season so far to despatch Reading in a thrilling encounter at a packed Walkers stadium. The match was also marked by a sensational hat-trick from loan star Lukas Podoloski, a return which took the strikers tally for the season to 10 goals in 6 games. Speaking after the clash manager Mark Rollings was understandably delighted with his side.

"Even though we went in as heavy favorites we knew we would have to play at our best to get the result we needed. We have three massive games coming up, and the second round of the domestic cup so it was important we won here to keep momentum going. Lukas' hat-trick was outstanding but there were so many good performances. We also got the opportunity to rest the likes of Joe Mattock and Ki-Wook, while Fabrice Muamba was suspended so we are delighted with the win and performance."

Rollings now faces the prospect of preparing his side for the challenge of top of the table, Everton, but insisted it would be the merseysiders who would be fretting most about the upcoming encounter.

"Everton have done fantastically well to get themselves into the position they are in but we are playing well and are confident of a good result. Jackie Yeo is a long standing friend of mine within management but that goes out the window next weekend. They were less convincing against Bolton and I feel if Ashley Davies had been a bit more positive Bolton would have got something from the game. They will be without Radovanovic too, who is an important part of their defensive game so we hope to get some joy in the middle of the park."

Finally Rollings seemed to all but end speculation that Leicester were still in the market for player recruitment.

"We are extremely happy with the quality and depth we have in the squad now. We have a number of options tactically to adapt our game and the players to keep other managers guessing what we are going to do. We were looking at adding one more on loan and although negotiations aren't dead they have cooled slightly. At the moment we are concentrating on renegotiating our half-season loans for the second half of the season and anticipate news on that very shortly. I feel we are in fantastic shape for the rest of the season."

(Q) How confident were you feeling going into the game on Friday?

(A) As we haven't had a great start to the season i thought we could get a draw and thats what happened.

(Q) Were you pleased with the performance of your team?

(A) Yes and no i thought we could have made more of our chances. something that i wasn't pleased with was the performance of the ref, we should have had 2 pens but they wasn't given i think we had the same ref that Genoa had last week.

(Q) Are you looking forward to the next round of domestic Cup matches?

(A) Yes we are we are playing Cagliari and we drew with them this week in the league but i can promise that there are changes afot at Atalanta and even though we have had a bad start i wouldn't rule us out of promotion. Watch his space.

(Q) Who do you think will be crowned champions in that Cup competition?

(A) Juventus!!

(Q) Will you be venturing into the scouting this time around?

(A) No i don't think we will be this time we were a little dissapointed with what our scout came back to us with we will have to have a look next time the scouting window opens

(Q) Who do you believe your ideal next signing would be?

(A) We have our eyes on bringing in a LM and a RB i think most of our buying will be done for the rest of the season then.

(Q) Questions have been asked about your signing of Danny Hoesen on loan what do you have to say about him joining?

(A) He has come to the club so we are able to rest Scotty or Cacau every week so that will help our strikers fitness and help them last the whole season.

(Q) Where would you like to see this years Youth Tournament be held?

(A) I would like to see it held at Atalanta or Southampton.

(Q) One last question before you go it came up in the media that you are close to sacking the Southampton manager is there any truth to this?

(A) No there is no truth what so ever in this story we have a long term plan at Southampton and i am very happy with the manager.
