Week 11

In an interview with Sevilla FC Television, Sevilla manager Liam Riste spoke out before tonight's game with Levante and also responded to the 'egg on face 3'.

SFCTV: You have Levante tonight and are missing 3 key players. Does this worry you?

LR: I believe we have the squad to cope at the moment but a solution is being looked into as to resolve the problem in the long-run. We have to beat the likes of Levante and I expect 3 points.

SFCTV: In recent media, Jonny Adams has asked if his Athletic Bilbao side can play you every week following his 3-3 draw with you a few weeks ago; anything to say about this?

LR: Jonny Adams did a great job last season and has set a good standard and level that has become expected at Bilbao. He still considers Bilbao a 'little' club even after taking points from Barcelona too last season?!  But the more amusing fact is that his 'little' team are playing in the UEFA Cup and as for his chairman's personal rivalry it is no more than banter between good mates! If he wants to play me every week then so be it, he's a brave man and can only ride luck and records for so long...

SFCTV: You were also declared 'desperate' as you are on the brink of losing your top 3 position; do you feel this is fair?

LR: Not at all. I'm currently 3rd and 3pts clear. That's like suggesting Bilbao may get relegated. As for being desperate, far from it. I was just making the point that his poor team selection doesn't exactly challenge in any way a Real Valladolid side, so they can sit easy which IS practically giving them the league! We don't need Bilbao to beat Valladolid, just not to lie down and play dead, get some balls and fight like every team with half a chance should!!! As for egg on my face... I'm definitely not John Prescott!

SFCTV: Moving on... You secured a spot in the Quarter Finals of the European Cup where you meet Man Utd after a 4-1 victory over Fiorentina. Good result?

LR: Unfortunately Fiorentina are rebuilding after administration which has weakened them. However, it was a good win as they are doing very well again. This may have helped us to win by 3 goals but drawing Man Utd in the knock-out phase is special for me. As a Utd fan, it'll be nice to play against them again on the big stage in a highly competitive match which could go either way. I'll be looking forward to that game in particular.

SFCTV: Okay, well thanks once again for your time and good luck tonight.
LR: Cheers.

"Hands Off" - say Foxes!

The Leicester City Board have been quick to announce a "hands off" warning to Spanish giants Real Madrid. The Spanish outfit are rumoured to be looking for a dynamic young manager to bring back the glory days to the ailing Spanish club and will no doubt be moving quickly to sign a replacement for the departing Iain Kochanowski.

Leicester's highly regarded young manager, Mark Rollings, has recently steered the Championship team into second place in the league and looks set to run down the leaders Portsmouth in the second half of the season, as fitness takes its toll on teams with aging squads. Rollings is also currently well into a promising cup run and therefore it is no surprise that European scouts have become regular visitors to the Walker Stadium.

Leicester fans reacted to the rumours in a typically English manner by throwing bricks through the windows of Pedro's Paella Palace - a Spanish restaurant just off Filbert Street, near the football ground. Local police indicated it was probably the nearest thing to Real Madrid that the Leicester fans could find at such short notice.

Jamie Walker spoke exclusively to Arsenal TV this evening about rumours he was the subject of an approach by Real Madrid.
"I am flattered to be mentioned in the same sentences as a team as huge as Real Madrid. They have an illustrious history and any manager could concieve time in charge of Real Madrid as the pinacle of their management career. I have had no contact with Real Madrid personally and have been told nothing by my chairman. It would be nice to have the situation clarified but I have recently purchased Real Murcia and for now I have no intention to manage in Spain. Much of my time has been in England and Italy and I would like that to continue. I am dipping my toe in to Spanish football with Real Murcia and I believed I was close to agreeing a deal for a manager but things have gone quiet so I will have to see if that move is alive still or not"
News stories have said that captain Cristian Zapata is leaving this week something else Walker spoke about.
"Cristian has been a servant here for a long time and he was one of the last experienced players at my disposal. I have always said top players will be sold when I do not feel I can develop them much more and we had a huge offer come in for Cristian. I felt it was the right time for him to move on. The squad is full and the money is still coming in from this project we have here so I will need to sit down with the chairman to discuss how the extra money can be best spent and what my future holds at Arsenal."

Napoli Battle On

Serie A new boys, Napoli have reached the halfway point of the season in Serie A and sit 1 point outside the relegation zone, some might think this is a job well done so far.......................not manager Andy Fletcher.

"Yes i want more, I dont want to spend the second half of the season with sleepless nights and worry, the players also need to work 100% until we can breathe. We have scrapped for points and if thats what it takes then we can handle that but we would like another 10 points on the board before the end of the season. I believe we have the personnel to achieve that already here."

"We have gained some impressive points this season and this weekends was no exception, to get a clean sheet againts the might Sampdoria was an excellent result and our kepper Curci deserves his MOM award. We have changed formations a lot the last few games to try and get something that will work in our favour. We have some decent striking talent and our midfield, although young, are learning every week and making themselves legends at this club."

LEICESTER NEWS

Rollings condemns Foxes mob

Foxes boss Mark Rollings pleaded with panicking supporters to halt the sporadic and malicious targeting of Spanish based restaurants which has followed rumours of their managers link to the vacant managerial position at Real Madrid. Initially Pedro's Paella Palace adjacent to the clubs ground seemed to be the focus of demonstrations but since that point at least two other small tapas bars have been victimised by the mob. Police are also investigating a eat and run incident at a mainstream restaurant that is described as having "Spanish elements to the menu". The midlands has also seen a dramatic drop in sales of Rioca which retailers say "cannot be a coincidence".

Speaking at a press-conference from the clubs ground Rollings states.

"I can only reassure all Leicester City fans that I have no intention of leaving the club. I am under contract for the next season and a half and at the moment my only thoughts are towards earning a significant extension to that deal. I love the progressive environment of the place and feel like it has been absolutely essential in my development as a manager. The chairman and I talk regularly and share the same vision for the club. We are both extremely ambitious with our plans and I would be stupid to consider giving that up. I hope this puts an end to the anti-Spanish demonstrations in the City."

The young boss also addressed reports that academy bosses and club scouts had alerted him to the potential of Max Gradel, a player currently starring for the academy.

"We have received glowing reports on Max' development since the season started. We are not afraid of giving our young guys a chance and I think the likes of Joe Mattock, Billy Kee and Harry Worley illustrate the success of that approach. The fans love a real home grown talent and that is something we place a great amount of importance on. We want to create a successful and sustainable premier league team, with home grown talent at its core!"

RE: Week 11

NEWSFLASH

Earlier tonight a small donkey shaped Pinata was attacked near the Walker Stadium, then beaten with a stick and all his sweets taken.

Is there no end to this madness?

Andy Fletcher Speaks Out on Failed Garner Loan Move

During what is normally a busy few weeks of transfer activity, Napoli were approached and agreed a loan deal that would see Joe Garner get valuable game time at Udinese for the rest of the season.

This also meant that we could free up squad space for new academy talent to move up if available.

However, it seems that the Udinese manager, Jake Board failed to fill in any paperwork at all for this deal and has left Joe Garner and his manager high and dry.

This has also prevented an academy player from being promoted, It is also believed that another club has had similar issues, SKY sports managed to catch an dejected Fletcher on his way to the Napoli training ground.

" I dont get angry very often but Im £$%^&* furious, you cant go around making deals and then "forget" to put them through, this has effected a number of clubs and players, whether it was not reading the rules properly or generally a disregard for fellow managers its not acceptable."

"I am going to report this to the LMA and the FA and I want sanctions taken, I want a written explanation, of course it goes without saying that this manager will be given a few short words should he ever coming knocking at my door again for players"

Siena  News

The Siena manager, Terry Manifold, agreed to be interview this evening prior to the match this weekend between his shaky side and Messina. Siena dropped out of the Play-Off zone after the defeat last weekend and it certainly has affected the normally confident manager.

PRESS

I did try and interview you after the match last week but was told you weren't available?

TERRY

No it has been a difficult four days since the match and I must admit I have been considering my future here at Siena. I have put an awful lot of time and effort into rebuilding this side and it just doesnt seem to be working. After the match last weekend I just thought that being interviewed about another defeat was something I didn't want to go through.

PRESS

You are normally very positive, what has changed?

TERRY.

I think it was when I saw the Bookies odds for a home win against Atalanta was 7-1 that it hit me. I couldn't understand why this team I was holding great hopes of getting promotion was being assessed in that way.

PRESS

How do you currently feel about the situation?

TERRY.

I feel a lot better. I have been talking to other professionals about my current plight and I must say that the response has been very encouraging. It is nice to know that a couple of very busy managers have given up time just to discuss my problems. I have been given advice and I aim to look at it very seriously and hopefully turn this season around. I have nothing to lose.

I am very grateful to Gareth at Middleboro for a couple of player movements this week. Wes Morgan will be coming in to assist the defence and we are taking Hoesen on loan for the rest of the season.

PRESS

What does Chairman John Brady think of the situation?

TERRY.

I have not worried John with my problems as I think I need to sort them out. It is clearly a tactical problem because we have a decent set of players and it is just trying to get it to come together and start creating more scoring chances. Once we start I feel as though we can fly.

So this week it is a home match against Messina and a new outlook. This season starts here.

Arsenal TV spoke with manager Jamie Walker after the news the match against Blackburn had been postponed but it was Spanish news he was more keen to talk about.
"This week I have been working hard to sell a number of players from Arsenal but I have been busy in my role as chairman of Murcia as well. I had made a short list of 3 managers to approach for the job that I thought were affordable managers. All 3 managers were contacted about the job and a plan was put on the table for them to see what the future could be at Murcia. Out of those 3 talks never got going with one who had bigger plans for his career and I respect that. One manager started keen but his interest has fallen away after we failed to hear back from him. The other manager talks progressed well and he seemed genuinely interested in the job and ideas for the teams future. He did want to continue where he was and try to improve his form and that was where the talks stalled a month ago. Since then a top calibre manager has come forward expressing an interest to hear the plans for Murcia and after discussions has made all the right noises to show he is genuinely interested and convince me that he could be the right man for this job. He was never on the short list because I thought he was unaffordable and a class above Murcia but his vision and willingness to work for a move has thrown his hat right to the middle of the ring. No names will be given of any of the candidates because the talks were confidential and I would not want those talks to come to light and damage their reputation at their clubs but with talks stalled with all of the managers on the short list I now feel Murcia need to get behind this new name and support him in trying to get a move. To bring such a name to a team like Murcia would be a real coo."
