I know this has been suggested before (in 2009), but since the game has developed I think there may be more reason to increase the loan spaces.
After doing a search I noticed a thread about it in 2009 and the reason it wasn't implemented was due to managers moving mid-season:
The reason this hasn't been introduced is because people move mid season. Based on some of the options in here, you could use up all of your 6 alotted loan spaces in a few weeks. That then gives an incoming manager no say at all on loans for potentially a long time. By limiting it to 1 a week, it draws the loans out and allows managers to change plans as things develop. Say Chris did all 6 loans in during the space of 3 weeks at the start of the season, then moved. If Simon moved into the club week 4, he could use no loans until week 12 seriously limiting his options if he was at a small club with few funds for transfers.
Richard.
Now contracts have been introduced there is less manager movement and because of the chairman feature I think this would be a great time to introduce more loan spaces.
This will benefit talented younger players massively as they will start playing games sooner rather than later and in turn will get their stats increased quicker.
Any thoughts?

I voted for other, I don't mind the system as it although I can see JOP's point maybe change it to allow two loans per week but keep the limit as it is - two full season loans and 8 half season loans (4 each half of the season)

What about scraping full season loans and have more half season loans, the problem of leaving managers and incoming managers won't be too bad then, you can always reloan a player your only missing 1 game, then 2 or 3 loan spaces may be possible. But what do I know
As a small team, there are times that eventhough you hardwire your policy to not get too many loan players for some reason or the next you still end up needing them so i would say extend it!
Not everybody has young players that they want to farm out all at once, i think the loan system should be changed slightly, increase the loans to two but maybe with one incoming and one outgoing loan allowed per week.
I would like to see a weekly loan system in place, at the moment half season loans are labelled with the parent club and a 1 next to it in the loan column on the team sheets and a 2 when its a full season, if we could change it so that rather than a 1 or 2 it says say 16 for example to represent the week when the loan deal should expire, then you would have much more loan activity i think. You would have a minimum loan period say 4 weeks for example and the club would take on the wages for that period as they do at the moment. I dont know how much more work for Rich it is, the number in the loan column is one change but obviously i dont know how this idea affects the game engine. You could put the deal through like this on the team sheet:
Juan Antonio loan from Newastle to Athletic Bilbao until week 16.
The player would then return to their club after week 16 games. What does everyone else think?

i dont think thats a bad idea, but how much would it be used, most people would be happy to loan out a player for either half the season or the full season
I use loans lots and for me three loans at the start of the season would help get my players out quicker but this will only benefit the teams with big squads who cannot be bothered training their own players up. It will lead to lazy managers looking for instant success at small team bringing in lots more loans and bankrupting their team with big wages. Putting aside what would help me at Arsenal I think it would be better for the small teams to train some of their own players to turn into cash or into top players and not have a team full of loans they have no way of paying for.
You could have the ability to set the number of weeks instead of just half or full season, but then that just complicates how you keep track of how many long and short loans you have.
Im not worried about wages, it should be part of the essentials all managers keep an eye on regarding how much your club makes and how much you spend on wages.
A drawback in increasing loan ability will be the squad size will become the next thing people want changed to allow them to add extra players without having to sell out too many of their own players.
A lot of the small clubs moan about changes if they benefit the big clubs significantly. The short term view of a change to the loans is small clubs can loan in more players quicker... but the longer term view is that big clubs will just use small ones as mass farms to train up their next generation of players. Keeping the big clubs with the developed players and the small clubs unable to develop their own talents.
