Cadiz plan management change

Rumours surfaced last week that Cadiz manager JD is set to join Reginna, can you confirm or deny this?

Well Reginna havent approached us however JDs contract runs out at the end of the season so they wouldnt need to.   We understand that JD has been approached though.

Are we to believe that he will not be offered a new contract?

JD will go down in history of Cadiz and will always be a legend here.  The work he did with Mark Galeozzie to reduce the huge debt was remarkable.   We know other clubs are very keen on signing up JD and we believe Cadiz now need to take a new direction.  As a thank you to JD we have offered to mutually terminate his contract so that he can take up his position at a new club instantly and we await to hear from him.  He will be a massive asset to some club and im sure he will have many options to choose from.

Would you class this season at Cadiz a failure?

Not really, its work in progress.  We do have too many average players on the wage bill at the moment.  Its a fine line between success and failure and I think if we could have converted some of those draws into wins we would be in a healthier position.  Three wins in nineteen games isnt great but we did have a good cup run.

Now how about your Cardiff result this weekend? You must be delighted with a 6-1 win againsy Coventry?

Its always pleasing to score that many goals however I was disappointed to concede a goal.  We are playing well though even though we have key players out on loan.

A European spot now seems certain, how will that effect your plans for the new season?

Right now im just thinking about the next game but we have always had a long term plan.   We will be increasing the club shop, adding seats to the stadium and improving the youth academy so most funds will be going on the non playing side of the club rather than squad improvements.   We fully believe this is the only way we can compete with the big boys of this league in the future. We will be looking to bring in a left back and a striker as well and the squad will be stretched but we will give it a go.

Chievo 0 - 3 Napoli

Andy Fletcher was delighted with his teams away performance at Chievo this weekend.

"We haven't had many wins this season but you have to fight for every point, I'm in no position to rest players so I have to ask the lads to go out and do a job despte fitness concerns, they did that and Im very pleased with their effort until the final whistle. To restrict Chievo to no shots on goal is a good performance and we managed to score goals from all parts of the team."

"We could have asked players to sit and rest last week against Juventus but we didnt want to lose that edge and so they played in a tough defeat, probably the worst in my reign as manager. That meant this week players like Hakan Yakin have had to cross the white line again and find something. For me Yakin ran the game this weekend."

"Going forward we need to secure another 3 points I believe, we dont want to go into the last game against Sampdoria needing something, my nerves wont take that."

"On the playing front we are still looking for players to improve and develop, Joe Garner was asked to come in and do something this week and he did, I would like some more goals from Esposito, but perhaps he needs the right players around him to do that. We are lucky in that we have played four or five formations this season and adapted well, I play my best team available, yes we have only won 4 games but those draws are what might keep us in the big time."
