Sinclair Frustrated with Roma Loss

Jonny Sinclair admitted to being frustrated with Parma's 2-1 loss to Roma and spoke to skysports.

How do you feel about the first game of the season how disappointing is that loss?

'It's a game which we should have at least got a point out of so yes very disappointing. We got the lead had the chance to go 2-0 up with the penalty but Howson has done wonders for this club so I don't attach any blame on him it's a team game and there were too many below average performance's yesterday sadly I mean the fact they scored one simple set piece once but for us too let them score an identical free kick later in the game was just poor and we'll definately work on that in training'

So any transfer deals to let us in on?

'Well Pedro Mosquera will be leaving sadly we got a very big offer for him and we have accepted it we are now looking to try a get a new Cm in and hopefully sell a few more of our back up players Francesco Uliano will also be leaving to an English team so we can get a very good player who I've worked with previously at Cagliari so it will be nice to work with them again.

Elipold Bouzoumou will be going out on loan for the whole the season as well it gives him a chance to be playing in week in week out which he really needs.'

Any other news for us week?

'Yes I certainly have for one we are making are Youth Academy bigger again with some of wages. We really do rely on developing our youth and giving them the chance they might not get at other places. We have also built another 4000 seats in our stadium as we were getting 20,000 fans week in week out last season we needed to increase out seats to fill the demand'

So tough game aginst the Big Money Promotion winners Lazio

Yes me and Ray have always had tough battles from our times at Ascoli and Chievo so it'll be nice to battle with him again. He's done brilliantly to get them back p andthey've got very good players but we can beat anyone when we are on it and I believe we can give them a good game and I'm looking forward to it.

Napoli delighted with positive start.

Andy Fletcher took positives from the opening day win at Palermo and aims to make a positive start to season 10.

We didnt start very well as new boys last year in this division and therefore were chasing our tails for the remainder to ensure we stayed up, I would like to get points on the board early on and give ourselves a better chance to reach the survival stage by halfway through the season, its a year on since some of our players have joined us and they are all bedding down nicely. I am pleased with an early three points but the games are hard every week and Inter Milan this week is going to be a tough match.

Mark Noble has become a very important player for the club with his wide ability and therefore I have appointed him club captain, he is a leader on and off the field.

Lavezzi is now the perfect age for a striker and I hope to see great things from him this year, he will have learned a lot from Kalou and Guaracs, who left us this week for a move to Catania where he wanted to get more regular playing time, we wish him all the best at a Catania and I'm sure they will have a brilliant season.

We have made some player changes with experienced keeper Ben Foster joining us from Manchester United, we probably paid slightly more than we would have liked but to get that type of experience doesnt come for free in this league. We are also loaning out some young strikers and our new midfielder who is 16 and will be an fantastic player in 2 or 3 years time, he needs games so will play at Torino for a while where they will develop his talent.

I'm happy with the squad, with one or two exceptions its young and ambitious, of course I am alsways looking for new talent and the development of our academy this year will prove testament that we can grow our own youngsters.

Sampdoria can handle the pressure.

Carl Robson felt the pressure this weekend starting a new job in a team reeling from relegation last season in perhaps the clubs darkest season yet and now the media by Dale Price in The Weekender has put all the expectation on Sampdoria to win the division.

The fans have had a lot to deal with and with all this pressure to get back out of the pit of Italian football they might not have wanted a new manager. I know the manager before me was highly respected for getting them into Europe but something along the way has gone wrong for the team to fall so far in such a small amount of time. The target is top 2 but I think every football fan in and out of this club knows we have to aim for first place and I will be doing that to the best of my ability.

The comparisons with Lazio is more pressure than Id like to have on our shoulders and a little bit unfair. We have a big squad but a small amount of money. I have read how Lazio were given big support from their rich chairman last season but our chairman thinks we have enough to get back without any help. Even with all this pressure though I feel like we can achieve and Ive told my players just that. Lazio won no fans with their football last season and the pressure was on them all season. The really good teams start the season so well no one has a bad word to say about them and they dodge all the pressure because they are so far ahead. This is the aim for me and Sampdoria and the target is to outperform Lazios last season.

With not much money Im not in much of a position to make big changes so the team trying to do all that will be the same team that got relegated with the last manager. I have to hope a new manager will bring new form on the football pitch. It was important to get off to a good start and Alexis Sanchez showed why some of the biggest clubs in football have been chasing him since I joined the club. He is a real jewell in the Sampdoria crown and Siena struggled to deal with him.

Wolves face West Brom this week at The Hawthorns and hope that they will be able to ensure that the Baggies don't start going BOING BOING. This meeting is between the bottom two clubs in the Championship, something that neither side will wish to see continue.

Following a difficult game in their first week Wolves manager JD Jaques is looking to alter his tactics. He has a full squad to choose from whereas the Baggies will be missing 3 of their key players Bonaventura, Masiello and Bonera.

Coakley: Youth is the future of this club

As Nugent and Farah sold

Luke a tough game against Liverpool this week, how do you approach such a game against the champions?

Both our games against Liverpool were close last season.  We have to be sensible and realise this season is all about the squad so we have mixed and match the team but as always we want to be competitive.  They have a strong set of players Liverpool so it would be silly be claiming we will win.  We will give it ago though and we will see what happens.

A highly impressive victory against Arsenal last week though, has that raised expectations?

It was an excellent win, I knew we had the players to win but it was all about application and the players were excellent.  Arsenal were unlucky to have key defenders out though so no one will be underestimating them this season.  They have the best young players about and over 100million in the bank, they are a club massively on the up.

Luke no signings to date, can we expect many to come in?

We wont be adding massively to the squad.  We have agreed a deal for a striker who will join this week and a left back the following week but sadly it means Lugano will be leaving.  That is all I expect for the season unless we manage to pick up some loans.    We have also promoted Ben Nugent to the first team but he has been sold due to the offer available to us.

The sale of Ben Nugent and Farah from the academy has got many fans questioning your faith in youth players?

My faith in youth is the reason we are selling them, the money raised means we can add a further level to the Cardiff City youth academy.  Youth is the future of the club and we will continue to build on that.   We are investing 25 million to improve the club shop and improve the youth academy.   Its disappointing we have to sell them but its all for the long term future of the club.  Since I joined we have enjoyed good solid success on the pitch but the real work has been off the pitch where tens of millions have been spent on the stadium, shop and academy and this while reducing the wage bill from when I took over.

So the academy will be extended further this season?

Yes, by how many levels we are undecided but the money is being pumped in.    We want to do it the right way though, its all very well improving the academy but we also need the funds to keep it running to the club shop extension is just as important as well as the extension on the stadium.

ESPN Talk of the terrace caught an exclusive interview with Lazio Supremo Raymond Farnell this week, on his mind, Italian Football, The season ahead, Lazio and few odds and ends...

Ray Italian Football?

Seria A, ahhhh,  its good to be back in such an exciting league, I truly believe this is the hot bed of football primed to challenge Europe on all fronts, Juventus and Genoa are the flag bearers for us and Steve and Callum have sides capable of ruling on all fronts, then you have other talented managers in this league such as Huw (Fiorentina), Rob (Inter), Jop (Roma), Andy (Napoli), some so called Parma manager, sorry Jonny, I need to have a dig as he will give us a hard game this weekend! and last but not least my manager of last season Beli.

These are top managers and we should be proud of what Seria A can offer at the moment, literally this is top top stuff here.

The Season ahead and Lazio Ray?

Well, I am working hard to fulfill the dreams of the Chairman and the fans, exciting times lay ahead and should we fail my head is on the chopping block, but with Stadia, youth and club shop expansion along with a huge team overhaul I will be able to leave with my head high should Zhu Jun decide to send me to the firing squad!

Odds and Ends Ray?

Well I am happy manager as you can tell and I wish my luck to all of the lads above, especially those in Europe and I hope they bring back some tophies to Italy!.

As you can see I want this Italian League to be one but I have a final word for the new Sampdoria Manager Robson, good football might win you fans, winning games earns you your bread and butter, less of the name dropping son and I hope you do well.

SIENA

Siena  News

Tonight draw sees Siena getting their first point in this seasons campaign. Terry Manifold looks a little happier than when we last spoke.

PRESS.  Satisfied with the play tonight?

Terry.  I Yes we picked the play up a little from our disappointing start last week. I thought we played well but Udinese certainly came here to get a point.. We can go on from here and improve further. I am very encouraged by our performance.

PRESS.  I know that last week you were fuming about your failed deals, any news?

Terry.  Yes we have been really busy and you will see a lot of movement over the next two weeks.  I am very excited about some of the players we are getting. There is of course the down side of having to say goodbye to some regular faces here. I think you will see very positive changes which will have a real impact on the way we play.

PRESS.  Are these exchanges?

Terry.  No the Chairman has been very generous and I have tried to use the money wisely. I have spent a large part of it on Michu from Celta Vigo but we have sold, swapped and hope to bring in a loan player. When the movements are complete you should see a smaller squad with a reasonable mix of experienced players mixed with youth.

I am very pleased with what we are doing and it should set us up for another good season.

RE: Week 2

Sinclair Pleased with last gasp point

Jonathan Sinclair pumped his fist in the air after debutant Sebastien Leto scored an 89th leveller from a brilliant free kick from Pedro Mosquera.

We didn't play our best game we really didn't get going until the second half but Lazio have a lot of good players and have a great set up so to come away from there place with a point is brilliant I'm delighted with Sebastien him and Bradley Johnson with be battling it out for that left midfield spot I gave him leto his chance today and he took his chance brilliantly.

I thought we dealt with Lazio's threat apart from one player like last our game against Roma it was James Vaughan and this week we struggled in the most part to deal with Pavel Pogrebnyak but at the end of the day Francesco Pambianchi and Tomas Ghinassi did a great job at the back they really know both each others games very well and that can only be good for our defence.

Now we're off an running with our first hopefully that'll kick start our season.

Liverpool manager looking for extension to current deal.

When quizzed about recent rumours linking him to a move to the Russian big spenders Anzhi  Makhachkala, the Liverpool manager denied any talks had taken place and stated his desire to extend his stay at Anfield.

I can confirm that recent reports linking me with a move away from the club are just rumours and nothing more. I am very happy at Liverpool and it is my intention to be here for a long time. We have enjoyed a successful period in my three seasons at the club and I would like that to continue. I am now in the last season of my current contract and whilst there is the option of a one year extension, during our end of season review I made it clear to the chairman that I would like to extend my stay beyond the extra season. The start of the season at any football club is a very busy time for both chairman and manager even more so for one the size of Liverpool but now with the season underway I am hopeful that I can sit down with the chairman to discuss the way forward for Liverpool and put my name to a new contract keeping me at the club for years to come.

Unlucky Wolves

Following his sides defeat to West Brom at the Hawthornes, Wolves manager JD Jaques spoke to BBC Sport.

What are your thoughts on today's game?

"I thought that the players played well, and we were unlucky to be on the end of a defeat. Overall we matched West Brom for long periods and it was a fairly even contest, I thought a draw would have been a fairer result."

Being promoted via the playoffs - does that put you at a disadvantage?

"Not really - I knew what I was coming into when I took the job and I have been working hard to meet the challenges set by the board when I joined. There are a number of strong sides in the Championship, and there are no games which you look at and think will be easy."

So Wolves for relegation then?

"I never said that. It will be a long season, and we will fight in every game. We were unlucky not to get something this week, and that is something that the players can take into future games, including next weeks game which is our first home game of the season. I am sure the Molyneaux faithful will be right behind us and I hope that we will be able to deliver 3 points against Everton.

We are able to compete in this league, and that is what we will do. What I won't be doing is bringing in overly expensive players simply to achieve promotion, if that would undermine the financial stability of the club."

In light of that what plans are there for transfers?

"Well a few are going through as we speak, which will be in line with the brief the Board set me when I took this job on. We are also brining in a striker on loan to add to our options in that department. However, we are wary of bringing in too many players on loan given that we would have to foot the bill for their wages. Having seen the recent stats published about the amount of cash teams have spent for each point they won last season, it bring home to managers the fact that finances have to be managed. Unfotunately it seems as if some managers who are brining all and sundry in on loan haven't poicked up that the financial area is one that they need to manage."
