As normal, early planning has to go into any alterations for the new season and I have a couple I'm looking at possibly introducing already. So like every season I'll put them out and see what everyone thinks of them, and leave it open for further suggestions - although please keep suggestions feasible!! This will hopefully keep all discussions in one place as well.
How would the players leave though? For example if you had a happiness rating /10 and say if it went to 1 they left that team, would they move or just be available to sale at their value and if someone offered the value then the manager would have to sell? Something to think about.
Chat Room
This has been suggested before but if anyone comes across a free chatroom creator that allows an admin to manage accounts ie. you'd all have to register there so you couldn't pose as other teams/managers when chatting, then send me a link and it'll be added almost immediately. This is the only thing holding this upgrade back.
My issue with this is, its not management then. How much do you want this game to be about your skill and how much do you want it to lean towards realism? On this issue, I think realism and your skills are in different directions.
Entended results data
A few further match stats maybe to help people analyse each others tactics, although the difference between some ie. wing backs and wingers would be minimal on these stats so hopefully it'd leave a little mystery to your tactics then.
Specialist column
This would consist of specialist players having some sort of attribute being highlighted here. This could include any of the following and more, but just as examples:
For example if a player was injury prone, maybe his fitness would drop at a slightly quicker rate than normal players. So these skills would be visible but their effects would be unseen ie. 2 identical players but 1 has set piece specialist attribute, so that player will have a slight boost somewhere but on the outset he will look identical.
I'll add to this as I go, feel free to comment here and all comments will get read.
Richard.

I like this idea, maybe they should just be made available for value if they get to the lowest point of morale. Although I think it should be whena player is not playing or if maybe someone like Ronaldinho signed for a league 1 club that isnt doing very well, despite him playing he could also get unsettled.
Chat Room
Sounds good
Random injuries
Im not a fan of the idea for the reasons Rich mentioned. I know it can happen in real life but I like the fact that some managers rotate to keep things fresh and others dont give it a 2nd thought and the effect both have at the end of the season.
Entended results data
I think its a much better idea than showing someones tactics

This makes up for the random injuries Rich, as when I raised the idea, my point was that the only way a player would get injured was thier condition would need to drop and this is the same for all players and the only difference is age.
With this idea at least it divides players of the same age. (If that makes sense)
Just wondering if it would be possible to cap the number of times a player is transferred a season. I think that it is daft that a player is bought one week and then placed on the transfer list the following week.
I know it has been discussed before but don't remember if anything was ever decided on it. Would it not make sense to go along the same lines as in the real game, where a player cannot play for three seperate teams in a season. It could be done by adding another column at the end of the teamsheet highlighting the number of clubs a player has played for. This will also help managers scouting players to see if they can be bought or not.It could also be an add-on to the unsettled player situation i.e. being bought and then put on the transfer list straight away is likely to put him on a bit of a downer.
The other ideas are good as well although I wouldn't want to be the first team to have a player injured because he drops a toaster on his foot or something like that
I dont think that a specialist column would be very good and the random injuries idea is pathetically bad. I'm not bothereed about extended results data - if anyone doesn't want it then they dont have to use it, as more data has alreadyt been shown recently i suppose it wouldn't be too hard to show some extra stuff?
The Chat room would be good - there isn't a section for out-of-FA chat (eg real football - Im guessing that managers pay attention to football scores/transfers etc because they're playing a football game!) on the message board and it would allow crazy rantings from certain managers to be less 'formal'.
The unsettled players would be good, but I have a couple of questions - why would they want to leave (not playing games, poor results, bad transfer decisions etc)? And what would happen about innactive managers? Because if they had a default team each week then the same group of players wont get played, and would leave - but if these were decent players it could be a big blow to a team who was suffering because they had an innactive manager and potentially the team would lose its whole subs bench, get fined and then lose even more players because they were in administration.
Agree on the transfer limit being introduced (I had proposed this before) as some players seem to spend more time travelling than playing. Richard felt it was too much work for him to keep track of all the movements. Can I suggest a performance change e.g. good for first move in a season as new opportunity, fall for each subsequent move as realises they are surplus and would reflect house moves, family upheaval etc. Could be a behind the scenes change as players currently gain ratings through playing / scoring etc. What about Richard applying negatives so younger players who get shifted around don't improve as quickly and older players who are moved a lot are more likely to retire?
Also can I resurrect the dual position debate i.e. very small number of players who are listed as a first and second position (useful cover for injuries) must be based on real life skills / adaptability.
Also - suggestion of prima-donna players (e.g. Di Canio or more up to date.....Drogba or Adebayor) random 50% of games normal stats, 25% stats go up, 25%stats go down!
If a column is added for number of times transferred then all that is required is that the number increments up 1 on each occasion the player moves. The column would remain blank until the time that a player moves.
I would imagine that it would take little time to update. However, don't want to presume that it does as I don't know the full extent of the amount of time spent by Richard on the game.
Thinking about unsettled players a bit more, I think that from 1/10 the players are rated, probably anything over 6 or 7 is fairly settled but when a player gets to 2/3 then he would accept a bid from another club at value, this should then be judged by a panel etc.
EG:
Macherano at Liverpool hasnt played for 10 games, he wants first team football and it doesnt look likely. His stat has dropped to 3 and hes looking for a move.
Real madrid come in and notice the stat of 3, make an offer of the FA value and the club have to let him go. Sanctioned by the FA, or he enters a Transfer list of players who have fallen into the 3 or less bracket, now these players may not get any offers but if they are on the list then they are available. The manager can choose to get him back into the team and increase his stat or let him go.
Likwise a striker who is playing regularly in a team that plays crap football and therefore doesnt get any assists may also become unhappy
