An aim of mine has always been to incorporate youth football in FA, after all Football Academy as a game name lends itself to such a feature!! Equally I have been looking for an alternative way for managers to spend their manager wages they earn in the game, as apposed to simply buying clubs.
This is the idea which is being developed into the game this season.
The rules are due a major update and will get that when I have the time, however for now there is now a section specially for the Youth Academy added to the rules.
As we are now passed week 5, managers can't purchase the feature through that method described in the rules. The scouting will provide some managers a chance to get an academy now, and it will also allow me to try this new feature out before 80+ clubs all get themselves academies. Obviously if it doesn't work this season, managers would get the money back that they spend in the scouting, however I clearly don't intend on that happening!! There may be an option for manager to buy an academy later in the season due to the week 5 deadline being missed, however this will depend on how the first few academies go, and how much tweaking I need to do.
Hopefully, this will be a feature that encourages people to stay in one place for a while as well, but also giving them a middle ground you can all manage thats in between the normal 1st team squad, and the youth pools which generate randomly picked players you have no control over.
