Bidding Forum

Ok 2 main points I want to cover and they might as well go together in one thread to be discussed. Firstly administration. This will become a bidding process like Scouting in the future. There will be an area on the message board that managers can go, start a thread with a players name (eg. "Fernando Torres") and then put in their bid. Thursday or Friday each week I'll post accepting the current top bid in up to 3 threads, and once I post no more bids will be accepted in that thread/on that player. This cuts out the emails I have to deal with. It does however mean you won't get the notification if you're outbid. Currently I email to let you know, you'll simply have to track it on here by keeping your eyes open.

This idea is pretty much nailed on now (post Fiorentina administration) but comments on it are still welcome...

The other topic raised in completed transfers is released academy players. I don't want them to become freebies. The whole point is to build your own academy to increase the amount of time each manager spends at a club before moving on, so they get the benefits of a low £1 million signing on fee, plus the seasonal running costs of the academy. I'm considering an idea like the above mentioned administration idea, and equally like scouting, where players will be put when released by an academy and bids can be made that week, with the highest bidder come Friday when I post in the thread/close the thread, being the winner.

What is up for debate on this idea though is whether you see their full stats, or whether you see just the comments made by the scout from the team they were released by? Depends how much element of risk you want in this area of the game...

Richard.

Yeh i agree, just the scouts. Its a risk then which would make the game more interesting.
The only point i would like to make is with the top topic (torres)
What if say Simon bids 35 mill for torres and the club are 35 mill in debt, what happens to the other players that would be bid on ? it maybe awkward to decide to sell torres where you could get the money for say 6 other not so strong players. and it may cause arguements. Maybe a rule would be made that the highest bidder gets the 1st sale and so on

Same as at the moment GG. I have more bids on players than I need at Fiorentina and will sell the first few weeks to the biggest bidders, then the final week when the debts are about to be cleared I can pick the deals that suit Fiorentina, and not the deals that lose them key players. I would still have final say on this, but as said above it would only involve me posting in a thread towards the end of each week to say it was accepted. Being top bidder in a thread wouldn't guarentee you that player from an administration team, and like you say you'd need to keep an eye on how bidding was going for other players as it might cost you your player if your own bid wasn't better than that of another player, if the debt remaining was only small - as both players wouldn't be sold.

Sounds like a great idea to me
