There are a number of possible changes in the near future that could take place, and I thought I'd put some of them out one here and see what people thought, and see if people developed the ideas further. Feel free to leave comments as well as voting.
This one concerns the value of a player. Obviously in real life the top clubs ask the most money. Teams in the lower leagues can't price their players as highly. Would people want to see the division you're playing in factored into the equation for how much a player is valued at?
Initially people will be thinking "oh this means the big clubs get all the money" but most of the top clubs are opperating close to full capacity anyway so won't be able to raid all the lower league teams, and if they did they would have to lower their asking prices if they want to sell to lower league teams because everyone will know a players value will drop when he drops a division.
Also, this will have a huge effect on promotion an relegation. More than just the cash reward for being promoted, you would be rewarded with increases in value of all your players making your club more valuable and meaning you could raise more funds selling players.
Equally relegated teams might have their clear outs the season they are getting relegated before it actually happens, in order to cash in on players before their values drop. This would stop every team hanging onto all its players when it goes down and instantly having a huge advantage over the teams in its new league. eg. Lazio got relegated, kept all their stars, and are walking the Serie B league this season. In the changed system they might have had to cash in on players before being relegated at the end of the season, meaning their squad was much more on a level playing field by the time the new season started with them in Serie B.
I think the idea of transfer activity around the time of relegation is good. bargains may well be available.
I wonder if we could have a few more either young players or a player who moves to another club really come on very quickly. Giving the impression that the move was a real career changing experience. The opposite could also apply.
I know we have player developement but I mean the odd "Star." It would be good for a smaller club to find they are sitting on a fortune.
i voted for change, as well as being more realistic, it will, or should, lower the wages lower league teams are playing. while an up and coming youngster would increase in value with a Promotion, meaning smaller clubs could gamble and keep hold of them if close to promotion
